As the title suggest I'm curious to see if there's people who've had experience ordering from Matuls. I'm looking to buy a bascinet for reenactment. Whilst on the pricier side these do seem to be high quality. Can anyone attest to anything they've made? How responsive are they and do they have long waiting times?
I've noticed some maximillian style helmets have a difference in the way the protect the neck. One will have a round neck guard like the 1st pic, whereas the other example will have a longer elongated neck guard that sort off allows you to rock the helmet back and forth. Was there any reason why both styles were used and why someone might prefer one way or the other? It seems to be that both styles of helmet would be using a close fitting gorget. So I'm not sure why one would go for the 2nd option.
