Is this wrong, and should it influence my adoption decisions?

Whenever I think about having a child, I feel much more comfortable with the idea of having white child than a black/latino/asian child.

It's hard to explain, because I don't think any child's human value is diminished by the color of their skin in any way. But, from a parenting perspective, there is a level of discomfort and disconnect that exists with the thought of raising a child of color that doesn't exist with white children.

When going through the process of adopting a child, you are allowed to communicate preferences on things like age, race, and gender, but it doesn't completely sit right with me that this disconnect exists.

Currently work as a staff accountant doing journal entries, balance sheet recs, and P&L work.

I’d like to start applying for either senior accountant or SFA roles once I hit 2 years of experience. Should have my CPA at that point too.

I'm considering being open to an ICPC adoption with my neighboring state, as I live very close to the border and will be able to support my future son's connections there just as much as if he were adopted from my state.

I've heard that ICPC adoptions can be a bit of a mess, but that's admittedly based on a limited number of experiences.

If anyone on this sub has experiences with this, I'd appreciate it if you'd be able to inform me:

  1. How long it takes for your child to be placed with you after agreeing to a match?

  2. Are you able to do preplacement and overnight visits before all the paperwork is finalized?
