Suggestions for inexpensive client devices

Hi y'all,

I am looking to outfit 3 small farms with Meshcore repeaters and clients as emergency comms as cell service is not always good out there. Going to put them on the same frequency as CascadiaMesh.org like my client and repeater currently are.

They have a bit of a budget so I figured I would just get off the shelf repeaters from seeed studio, the Sense cap P1 Pro, 3 of them. https://www.seeedstudio.com/SenseCAP-Solar-Node-P1-Pro-for-Meshtastic-LoRa-p-6412.html

It's the companion client devices that I am not sure about. I want to get a bunch of them going for the staff and I want them to be affordable so they can get more easily if needed. So I was thinking the kit that comes with a 3D printer case already, the XIAO kit with case. https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-ESP32S3-for-Meshtastic-LoRa-with-3D-Printed-Enclosure-p-6314.html

They don't come with batteries, however. So my main question, the TL;DR is, do any of y'all have one of these XIAO kits that come with the 3d printed case? Do you know what battery would fit inside, if any? It seems like a very tight fit.

Overwhelmed by choices of software for perfumery/Straw Poll on your choices

Fraterworks just released Inscentify which seems great. But I had already entered all my materials into molequles.app and was thinking of switching to SillagePro or even the Perfumer's Workshop desktop software.

Is there a perfumery app that most people here use? I know the question of whether one exists has been asked mnay times, but I am wondering what the major perfume app people use is.

What do y'all use? Any tips for someone looking at comparing these apps?

I'm the only node in town with my N39 here. Now what?

I have two N39s actually because I was hoping it would be emergency comms if the internet is down but I wanted to be able to message someone outside the house potentially too.

I am the only node I can pick up. I could go war driving to try to find more but I really doubt that anyone else in this rural town has Meshtastic set up. What is next for me? I was thinking of setting up a gateway and then I could try to get some people I know into Meshtastic and get a little network going that way. What do y'all do if you're the only node in town?

Can I make a rudimentary eau de parfum with ethanol and essential oils?

N00b here. I bought these oils recently and they are on their way. I am hoping that I got some good base-mid-top note accords (that’s what notes that go together well are called right?). I also have lavender, frankincense, chamomile, eucalyptus, and tea tree oils in stock already.

I was going to use Everclear as perfumer’s alcohol and mix it 20% oils: 80% alcohol. I found a calculator to help with the mixes and I am planning on just making 3ml of fragrance at a time so that means macerating (is this the right term for mixing the oils and letting sit for a while?) just 0.6ml of oils each time. If I use just 0.1ml then each of these 5ml bottles will fill 50 3ml samples. I know that I will end up using more of some than others, but I might end up diluting the absolute oils with alcohol because I don’t know how potent they actually are and 0.1ml may be too much. I have syringes for measuring it all and an accurate scientific balance type scale.

Some potential scent combos I was thinking:

Agarwood/Rose/Black Pepper

Tonka Bean/Benzoin/Juniperberry/Honeysuckle

Agarwood/Guaiacwood/Rose/Petitgrain

Vetiver/Oakmoss/Beeswax/Ylang Ylang

Benzoin/Birch/Catnip/Cubeb

& many more

Are these oils going to be wack? Did I play myself by not going with a different vendor?

Haul from everyone’s favorite vendor

Top: plum Ruyao gaiwan, 2 spare pink Ruyao gaiwan lids because I am clumsy and broke one, figured I should have a backup.

Teas left to right: 2025 Airing The Linens, a roasted huangpian that tastes like grilled pineapple to me, then a couple orbs of 2025 Blood Moon, a hybrid tea, plus a sample freebie I haven’t identified. On the right is the 2020 pressing of Nightlife moonlight white tea.

Have had both of the teas I got cakes from and enjoyed them a lot. The grilled pineapple-ness of the Airing the Linens makes it great iced. The Nightlife is exquisite and floral and honey like in texture. Good to have something other than puerh around for when I want a change of pace. Am storing the Airing The Linens with things like a light fermented shou that could benefit from a little smoky flavor.

Edit: it’s from White2tea by the way

Good selection from farmer leaf to try a few areas?

Fixing to spend some money on young sheng samples. Like 160g of them for $54, 33 cents a gram which doesn't seem like a bad deal for samples. Is this a good selection of their budget teas? I am trying to get a sense of the different teas they sell from different areas without getting into the old tree or single tree cakes that cost a lot more. What do y'all think?

This is the oldest tea I have consumed. It seems like a good example of tuocha aging though. Stored by Taishunhe, sold by Quiche Teas.

This is a very powerful tea that knocks my socks off at this ratio (10.6g/150ml). First steeps are giving cranberry juice, storage aroma (old book/chenxiang), a little smokiness.

Gives way to smoother steeps after around 600ml (4 steeps or so) and won't twist your stomach quite as much as the earlier ones. You get mellow tea bite, a bit of returning cranberry-like sweet tartness. Vibes of golden raisins on the aftertaste.

This tea gives me a good amount of energy and a relaxed feel. Would recommend.

left to right in case text is small: 2025 oriole, 2025 echols, 2025 fox down, 2025 blood moon, 2025 airing the linens, 2025 blossom SX.

Have only ever had Blossom SX before (was great in the yancha sampler from the tea club) but I was interested in trying some of the hybrid and roasted teas so I hope I picked some good ones to try. The pink gaiwan is so beautiful, it may be my new favorite brewing tool. Cheers!
