My Powervesting Strategy: 70/30 SCHD and Futures for Long Term Wealth
I built a simple system I call Powervesting that treats my portfolio like a managed account with a built in backstop. It is 70 percent SCHD that stays sacred and never gets touched. The other 30 percent is my Strike Fund in cash for opportunities.
I swing trade long only ES and NQ futures from that Strike Fund with strict rules. Max 57 percent of the Strike Fund in margin leaving a solid buffer. I rebalance back to 70/30 every quarter unless we are in a downtrend.
Entries need macro support plus my SVE crossover on the daily with volume confirmation. Risk is 3.5 percent per trade with a 2.5 ATR stop and I never move stops. Max 7 percent risk across positions. Use micros and minis to get a risk dialed in as close as possible
I exit only on a daily bearish SVE crossover or full exit in confirmed downtrends. No re entry until a fresh long signal. Living expenses come only from profits dividends or the buffer. Futures get the 60/40 tax treatment.
It is conservative by design. The SCHD backstop protects the core while the futures add leveraged alpha on the long side. Win rate around 63 to 66 percent over years with process over outcome focus. Not chasing monster years just steady disciplined growth.
This is what works for me after years of refining. DYOR and trade your own plan. Curious what you all think
