questions about enlisted to officer (pre-bmt)

hello! i just enlisted in the air force reserves and i’m set to leave around november 2nd. i currently have my associates degree with plans to get my masters degree public relations and communications. i also plan to do a lot of internships with that line of work while i’m in the reserve. i understand it is difficult to commission and even more difficult to become a public affairs officer but if i have a strong package could this be a possibility for me? also, is it an easy transition to go from enlisted in the reserve to an active duty officer? do i have to finish out my 6 year contract in the reserve before i can try to commission? i’m not sure what the first steps are to this process and i want to be fully prepared.

and before you say “look into AFROTC” i did, i am unable to take that route due to the closest one being 3 hours away and i cannot afford to live away from home right now. thank you in advance for your help!
