Is Every Project Pay Per Task

I previously was with mercor and technically still am, although I haven't received any new work since they got hacked. I got onto micro1 after many interviews and was added to a project. However, the project had made it clear that this is a "pay per task" setup and no hourly tracking is done.

This is not preferable IMHO, because I also previously worked with Alignerr (g2i / Data Annotation) and their setup is also pay per task, but there's a chance that your work won't be accepted and thus you end up wasting your time for no money.

Can anyone talk to me about this? Are y'all receiving steady work and payments under a pay per task model? Do you get any push back from your superiors over work quality or task acceptance? What tasks are you working on? (Security and Vulnerabilities here)
