Insurance advice Virginia Medicaid.
So my provider prescribed the estrogen patch 2ml 2x weekly with an increase in 2 weeks to .4. I am in Va on anthem health keepers plus, which is Virginia’s Medicaid. They denied the prescription. To me they cited that the quantity was too much. To my provider they cited that the patch was the preferred method and that she needed to prescribe the patch. To which she stated she was confused! She then did a pre authorization they denied it. So now she has prescribed. Far lower dose. .1 weekly. Her hope is to be able to increase after they approve the low dose. Does anyone have any experience with this. Or advice. A couple friends have suggested I go straight to injection as they will often approve easier. I am amenable to that. I am also wondering if I am just going to have to go out of pocket at this time.
Estrogen Question.
Opinions wanted! I had my initial appointment yesterday. I told a couple other friends that doc didn’t do labs before prescribing. They are freaking out. Doc said current guidance was to wait 3 mos then do labs. She said start at .2 on the patch then bump to .4 after two weeks of wanted. Her logic was to see how the body is naturally adjusting as opposed to trying to force it. That bodies can accept the shift easier for 1 person whereas another may need more nuance. So they just want to see what is needed if that makes sense? What are your thoughts?
