How difficult is it to drive a new Toyota like a traditional car?

I'm ok with losing fancy driver assistance features, but some of what I read about newer TSS 3 and above vehicles leads me to believe it's flatly impossible to drive the car without it either spying on you or complaining that you aren't letting it spy on you. Is this true? I say this because I find the concept of my car having opinions about my driving offensive, to put it mildly.

2007 Toyota Yaris popping a running lean error code. Long term fuel trim at 21% idle, 34% at 2500rpm. No difference between hot and cold engine. MAF at 2g/s idle, 6g/s at 2500RPM. No changes to numbers or behavior after cleaning the MAF and replacing the intake manifold gasket and brake booster hose. No difference after a can of Red Line fuel system cleaner. The fuel line doesn't have a Schrader valve so to check fuel pressure I'd need not only a fuel pressure gauge but also the Toyota/Denso connectors and I'm not real sure how to tell whether a particular kit has all that, or whether a particular set of Denso connectors bought separately would be compatible with a particular fuel gauge.

Should I just bite the bullet and replace the fuel pump without trying to check the fuel delivery pressure?
