Wii u eMMC chip

I recently ordered Wii u black version to mod. I’ve done a lot of research and found out that some chips (Hynix or something like that) have an issue where they brick over time. I can return the console for 14 days after it arrives and 12 months after in the case of it breaking. However I’m unsure what to do when it arrives.

My options

- Return it immediately
- Mod it and check if it has the bad chip with Wiiuident (idk if I can return it tho in that case because i heard it leaves traces of modding behind)
- Leave it or identify chip by other attributes (unreliable)
- Any other options u guys can recommend

Tips for Wii u modding

I recently ordered a refurbished Wii u (black 32gb) from eb games, and intend to mod it. I’ve modded a 3ds previously so I somewhat understand modding, following hacks guide, etc. However I still have several questions that would be incredibly helpful if answered.

- I heard some models of the black 32gb Wii u have specific chips in them that can brick them or something along those lines. If the one I ordered has one of those chips what should I do?

- I also heard the console can be bricked if you use online services when jail broken. I only intend to play offline anyway but want to use nusppli and other homebrew apps. What should I avoid in that regard (eg: games auto connecting to online services)?

- What external hard drive to get- something relatively cheap with 1tb at most.

- Any other tips or warnings would be appreciated.

Any advice helps a ton, and if the chip thing is an issue I still have a 12 month eb games warranty.
