Radio silence after acceptance email, should I be worried?

Hi everyone,

I had my first UN interview last week and amazingly, I received an acceptance email the same week!

I read your experiences on this subreddit and I understand that the UN hiring process is very slow.

But since it wasn’t the case for me, I am now worried because they stopped responding to me after that initial acceptance email. I haven’t received an official offer, start date etc.

Is this a cause for concern (they changed their minds?) or just bureaucratic delays?

Thank you!

I think the tech job market broke something in me?

Hi everyone,

I joined this subreddit after being laid off, and your posts have been a lifeline for my sanity. So I want to start by thanking you all for sharing your experiences. Thank you!

For the past year, I woke up early every single day, sat at my computer for 8-12 hours a day and job hunted nonstop. I never allowed myself (or couldn’t afford) any indulgences or distractions. I’ve applied to over 500 jobs, done dozens of interviews and technical assessments, been rejected from jobs I was overqualified for, ghosted by recruiters who reached out to me, had to move back with my parents etc. It’s been brutal emotionally and financially.

And 2 days ago, it paid off. I received the best offer I could possibly imagine from an organisation I never thought I had a shot at.

And.. nothing? I haven’t celebrated, or even told anyone. I thought “it will either be rescinded or I will be laid off 2 months in” and went right back to applying.

I’m more anxious now than I was before the offer and I don’t know why. I think I spent so long in autopilot mode, shelving every feeling and need so I wouldn’t sabotage the job search, that now I don’t know how to “be” without it.

I remember what it felt like to get a great offer in 2022. The excitement coursing through me I could feel it in my toes, the tears, running to tell my family and friends. And it makes me so sad what the 2026 tech job market has done to me. I don’t think I cracked a smile in the last 2 days.

Sorry for the long rant and I wish you all the best!

Hello everyone,

I just received an invitation to an interview for a UNV position. They set a date and time (this week) without checking my availability.

Is it appropriate to ask to reschedule to next week?

Thank you
