I need help as a noob for upgrading my character

I have been following the fubgun iceshot build for the general playstyle and I have reached a point where it seems like any upgrades that I can apply either cost 300 divs or are barely a sidegrade. I feel like this shouldn't be the case, and is more that I am not very knowledgeable with what modifiers actually matter the most, what modifiers can actually roll, etc etc. I currently have about 120 divs but I am sure i could get up to 150 if I converted everything. Any tips would be welcome, thank you!
