Watching Dhurandhar and VeerZara back to back

Over the last 6 months there has been some heated debates over political propaganda through movies after the release of Dhurandhar. Many movies from the past were also called soft propaganda such as Pathan, My name is Khan and Veer zara etc. i personally liked VeerZaara a lot so I tried watching Dhurandhar and VeerZaara back to back to see how it felt.

All i can say is I am happy that bollywood can make such captivating movies. Both VeerZaara and Dhurandhar are 3 hour long movies and yet in both movies captivated me for the whole duration. The background music in both the movies are two far end of the spectrum yet they make the movie so much more fulfilling. The tone of Late Lata Mangeshkar when Veer was leaving Zaara in the Atari station or the background music when Akshay Khanna gave that speech in Liyari. Both make the Bollywood what bollywood is.

Two scenes from both the movie brought tears to my eyes. In Veer Zaara the scene where Veer consoled Zaara to break the relation and go ahead with the marriage and the 26/11 scene in Dhurandhar. One showed sacrifice while the other captured anguish. After watching both movies what left me satisfied is Bollywood still has the capability of making "cinema". Cinema which makes you emotionally fulfilling. The anguish I felt after watching Dhurandhar was sothened by the sense of sacrifice and love I felt while watching VeerZaara.

I hope we continue making such movies.

In Afghanistan, Pakistan Tastes Its Own Medicine

This article describes how Pakistan followed the same policy against terrorism as India. It provides a balanced approach towards Operation Sindoor and it's implications and how India backed the military operation with strategic backing such as abeyance of IWT which Pakistan lacked.

Interestingly a Pakistan based news outlet Geo TV shared a very good article about the impact of IWT abeyance. It talks about how without building any additional infrastructure India can cripple the Pak's agri and power generation sector just by adjusting the water flow. Find the link below.
