Why does your cordless wet/dry vacuum leave streaks after mopping?
Ever noticed how sometimes after washing the floors, your cordless vacuum leaves streaks, traces of dirt, or makes the floor feel sticky?
One of the most common reasons is using a cleaning solution that’s just not right for Dreame wet/dry vacuums. The manufacturer recommends using only their branded cleaning solution, which is fully compatible with this tech and definitely won't damage the motor or nozzles. Any other cleaner might have a ton of surfactants. These harsh surfactants foam up like crazy, and as a result, they clog the HEPA filter and can even burn out the motor. On the surface, you only see part of the picture: thick foam because the roller doesn't have time to wring it out, and a sticky floor with a matte film that’s hard to wipe off even with a rag. But the consequences for the vacuum itself can be way worse.
If you are using the manufacturer's cleaning solution but still notice streaks or leftover foam on the floor, mop the floor a second time, but using only water.
Sometimes hard water can be the cause of streaks, so it's better to use purified water—this will save not only the look of your floors but also the vacuum's internal tubes from limescale. Another reason for streaks and annoying marks after cleaning is a dirty scraper. Right behind the roller, there’s a metal scraper that squeezes the dirty water out of it. If hair or pet fur gets wrapped around this scraper, it stops pressing tightly against the roller. The roller stays way too wet and dirty, so the vacuum stops actually washing the floor and just spreads the dirt around. So, from time to time, check the scraper after washing and drying.
