Autumn photoshoot with my foster kitten

Queenie is going to get fixed and go out for adoption next week. Took some cute pics ahead of the adoption fair!

She and her brother were 2 survivors of a litter of 8. They were hand raised from another foster from birth and are so friendly, happy, and playful.

Brick-and-mortar business owners in Manitou/OCC who I could hear from?

I am planning to open a cooking-related business in the Manitou Springs/Old Colorado City area. I am somewhat early in the process and I know this might be a long shot, but if anyone owns a business in this area I'd love to hear from you about your experience with local real estate. Or any advice about owning a business in this area (like how tourist season affects how you manage your business).
I am really excited to switch from corporate work to a business that will create local jobs and build a relationship with the community.

Thank you in advance!

How do I (25F) kindly tell my house guest (19F) she needs to go home?

In April or May, my husband (27M) and I met Em (23F) and Vi (19F), who have been dating for a little under a year, at a hangout. Over the last few months we've hung out with them occasionally, going to movies and events around town.

Unfortunately three weeks ago Em and Vi's relationship ended after some fighting and resentment that ultimately resulted in my partner and I and some mutual friends helping Vi move out of their shared apartment one night. We were told that the fights got physical so we were functioning like Vi was leaving an abusive situation (which we now know isn't entirely accurate). Em was not present during the move out.

Vi was invited to stay with another friend for a few days, and has been staying with us for almost a week. When she first stayed with us I suggested that one week be our milestone marker for a plan for her lodging moving forward and she agreed.

Vi doesn't want to go back to her home state to live with her mom. Her mom's house is overcrowded and loud and her mom is overbearing and overreacts. Her dad's house is toxic and I wouldn't advise her to go back there. Vi hasn't told her mom about the breakup.

However, here's the challenge: Vi doesn't have a car in-state. She doesn't have a job and declined work offers from friends. She is enrolled in virtual college courses. She doesn't help around the house, pay for anything, and barely speaks to us.

At first I was extremely empathetic and my priority was keeping a gay teen mentally safe and off the streets. But now that the dust has settled I'm sensing she is an irresponsible kid who needs to be back in a household with a parent. I don't feel like I know her well enough to be considered a guardian but I also feel responsible for preserving her safety.

How can I firmly but kindly insist that she needs to go home to live with her mom? Or get a job?

TL;DR: We're housing a young person who doesn't want to return to their mom's loud and overstimulating household in another state, but they are not being proactive about an alternative and I don't feel comfortable letting them stay here any more. How can I address it tactfully and effectively?

Edit for clarity: Vi hasn't overstayed her welcome yet. I am holding firm on the move out. I am just looking ahead for ways to explain that she needs to go back to her mom's house if she can't come up with an alternative.

My lower-sugar lunch

Hi, all! I wanted to share what I'm eating for lunch in hopes of giving you some inspiration for what a lower-sugar, high protein meal might look like. It's not completely sugar free, but I have had success eating this way. For reference, I used to eat sugary cereal for breakfast, have candy with lunch, a soda with dinner and Crumbl for dessert. I don't miss what that did to my body!

Pictured we have a peach, a leftover apple slice, some beef jerky, Cheezits (sugar free), parmesan crisps (sugar free), and some assorted cheese. This meal provides a lot of protein and natural fiber too.

When trying to cut out sugar my recommendation is to look for healthier alternatives to fuel your body and cut cravings. What did you have for lunch?

Edit: For everyone worried that this isn't filling enough, this is 30+ grams of protein and I had already started eating off of the plate. I am not a large person and the intention of this post is only to show people options for food when trying to eat sugar free, as is the focus of this subreddit. As we know diet needs to be custom to the person so this is only meant to show people a practical example.

Tiny fairy jars my spouse bought for me

These tiny fairy jars are so precious and I thought you'd like to see them. They are smaller than a US half-dollar coin! Purchased from a local artist at Eclectic Co in Old Colorado City, Colorado.

My favorite is the one with the aspens, it's hard to see but there's a little creek running by the trees inside it.
