Noticed one of the outlets on my portafilter was not flowing properly this morning as I made my morning latte. Assumed it was something to do with how I'd tamped it, didn't think much of it and enjoyed my coffee.

Just made another one and noticed it again. Inspected the portafilter and saw some kind of debris or film blocking it. Used a pipe cleaner and was horrified to see this pop out.

Obviously I feel sick, although logically I don't think it's likely to be anything harmful. It's also clearly dead having had boiling water pass over it a couple of times.

Google lens is fairly inconclusive - maybe it's a wax worm moth larva?

Based in Dublin, Ireland. The portafilter is routinely left out to dry on the draining board by the open kitchen window...
