First DIY usable ant nest!
Not my first DIY nest, but it is my first DIY nest that isn't absolutely atrocious, what are your thoughts on this nest?

A few minutes ago I caught 5 of these ladies in a nuptial flight, they were already on the ground, still winged but not trying to fly, I can't find any guides on them anywhere and I would appreciate any help I can get, I've found an article saying that they hibernate at 15°c but the rest of the tips were for myrmica, since I'm in the UK I'd assume they hibernate like lasius niger and other UK species?
Has anyone tried making ice cream with any sweet pepper varieties, I'm a huge fan of both ice-cream and peppers and I've seen many people make ice-cream with hot pepper so I'm definitely making some with ghosts and scotch bonnets when mine ripen, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried it before and what sweet varieties tasted the best in ice-cream if you've tried it before, I'd also like to know what the best method of incorporating the peppers is, maybe with roasted peppers, dehydrated peppers, raw peppers, etc. thanks
Bought a tequila pepper plant from my garden center abt a month ago, it had multiple fruits but most fell off, due to the heatwave the pepper developed prematurely, I think, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways I picked it today because it was ABT half red and I liked the colour a lot, the valour is literally the same as a green bell pepper, which I don't particularly like but this one tasted good.
Almost a year old colony, finally moved out of a testube and Into a gen 4 small nest from wakooshi, can't wait for the pupae to develop into workers!
First nicobarensis media workers in abt 6 months of keeping them
I've kept them for almost a full year (about 330 days) and I've finally managed to see them foraging, I haven't really seen this before because they're very shy and instantly run back into the nest after any vibrations. Anyways I think this is really cool
Bought as a tequila bell pepper but as you can see it doesn't look like one at all, it's also tiny about 30mm tall and 45mm wide give or take. It's purple but still has a little tiny bit of green left
I'm guessing the colony is abt 120ish workers but I'm horrible at estimating worker count
This is a 5 queen lasius cf flavus colony I've kept for about a year now, I recently boosted them with a little bit of what I thought was flavus brood, anyway recently I discovered some darker coloured ants in my colony, originally suspecting them to be majors I did some research and found that they resemble lasius brunneus, just being a bit too bright in colour, they seem to be freshly hatched but I don't know for certain would love help with ID
I caught 5 lasius CF flavus queens last year, in the UK, so these are probably lasius myops or flavus, anyway I usually check up on this colony fairly often and they're bunched up on the wet cotton so it's hard to see anything, today however I accidentally dropped them a little and about 50-60 workers to start rushing a round in the testube among them I found some bigger, darker ants so I'm wondering on what they are, there's about 2-5 of them
Here's your reminder that carebara atoma, which is one of the smallest ants, is around the same size as a tardigrade
ive kept multiple difficult species, even founding a few of them, but my messor barbarus queens never found successfully, I got one last year that took almost 6 months to get 2 workers, which she both ate, I got 2 more in January this year and both are still in the cycle of eating and laying their eggs, yes they and my other founding queens on a different shelf to my other colonies and I check once ever 2 weeks, is it just me or has anyone else had this issue?
I've recently located a lasius brunneus worker nearby my home, and now I'm wondering when I should be expecting them to fly, I'm in the southwest of the UK, and the forecast says that the weather should warm to 23°c next Thursday, I've also seen a chart which says they fly between may and June. Thanks for any info!
Guys did you know that pheidole is more related to strumigenys, the ant I've attached a picture of, than carebara! It's shocking isn't it?
