Cube recommendations

So I was thinking of buying a cube. I asked the same question a month ago but my budget was lower than and decided to settle for moyu rs3m v5 maglev. But now my budget has increased and decided to get a good one and forget about more cubes for a couple of years. Basically a one time investment.

My current cube is basically a $1 budget cube. It does lock up sometimes and gets stuck while turning, but nothing too serious as long as I turn gently. The biggest issue is that all the pieces seem to sit at slightly different alignments and never properly stay in place, which makes turning feel really inconsistent and rough. Eventually, one day the cube literally exploded and reached a point of no return .

I’m mentioning all this so it’s easier to recommend a cube that would actually feel like a major upgrade.

My budget is around $35–50 (preferably 45 as 50 does get a bit pricey). I don’t really know what type of cube I should get though. I checked the buyer’s guide on this sub, but I had no idea what to choose since I don’t know what counts as “too fast” or “too unstable.”

My personal best is 1:04, and I average around 1:14–1:19. My TPS at peak is probably around 5–6 TPS.

So yeah, what cube would you recommend for someone at my level and budget?

I need your help NIOS students/seniors 🙏

So I’m planning to pursue B.Arch and prepare for NATA, but realistically there’s also a chance I might not clear either this year. In that case, I’ll probably have to take a drop year anyway.

Because of that, I’ve been thinking about switching to NIOS and improving my Physics, Chemistry, and Maths marks through ODE so I can finish them by around September and then fully focus on competitive exams afterward.

I’ve attached my marksheet too. I failed in one subject, which is also why I’m considering this route seriously.

I had a few doubts though:

- Is switching from CBSE to NIOS worth it in this situation?

- How different is the NIOS syllabus compared to CBSE?

- If I take PCM through ODE, will I still need to appear for practical exams? (I already know about TOC)

- Can I continue studying from CBSE books/materials like NCERT, RD Sharma, PYQs, etc.?

For CBSE, my usual study method was:

- Read NCERT thoroughly

- Solve back exercises

- Do PYQs

- For Maths, I solved all NCERT questions + RD Sharma + PYQs

Would the same approach work for NIOS too, or is the exam pattern/style very different?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has switched from CBSE to NIOS for engineering/architecture prep.

P.S. even the slightest help or info from you all will help me decide.

So I'm new to cubing (took interest 4 days ago and now addicted to it). My personal best is 1min 53sec.

My current cube is a cheap cube that I got for a 0.84 dollar. It's non magnetic and tends to get stuck a lot while solving and tends to explode sometimes if I'm too fast or rough.

Should I upgrade it? Will it make a big difference or can I just become faster on this cube and its my fault for the cube getting stuck or exploding?

If I do upgrade it then what should I get? My budget is 10 dollar. I could go 25 dollar if it is really worth it but I would just have to save for it.
