Ghost sticker mark on phone screen
I just contacted CeX support about this but they gave me some automated response about B-C tier products having marks on the screen, and I don't have too long before my return window is up, so wondering if anyone here can help before I take it to my nearest store.
I recently bought an Oppo Find X8 Pro, which had a circular CeX sticker on the top right corner of the screen out of the box. I took it off and noticed a red mark on the screen in the exact shape of the sticker, I assumed this would just be a bit of residue, so ignored it while I setup the device and moved everything over from my old phone.
A few days later, I received my case, screen protector etc, wiped down the device and applied the screen protector, everything seemed fine at the time. That night I had the phone on low bightness with a white background webpage up (it's mostly noticable on plain white/grey, and when dim), and noticed the same mark on the screen, guessing I hadn't wiped it down properly before applying the screen protector. I took it off and washed the area with soapy water, that didn't work, so tried vinegar, white spirit and acetone which also didn't work. I know using solvents can strip the oleophobic coating, but I wondered if the sticker has maybe stained the coating anyway, plus I'm using a screen protector and the coating can always be reapplied.
Anyone have any other suggestions, or have had the same issue before? And if I take it to the shop and get a replacement, how do I know the same thing won't happen again with an identical sticker? I threw it away, but I have a feeling it was a "5 year warranty" one
Thanks :)
