Maybe the best stories don’t begin with a swipe

Every time I open this subreddit, I see the same format: “31M looking for…” followed by hobbies, height, profession and a checklist of expectations. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I’ve always felt people are more interesting than the few labels we introduce ourselves with.

So here’s me.
I’m 32 and based in Hyderabad. By profession, I’m a proposal writer, and outside work I’m an aspiring author slowly working on my debut novel. It’s still a work in progress, but I hope one day someone picks it up simply because the story spoke to them.

I’m not the most exciting person on paper. I overthink conversations, enjoy aimless evening drives, spend far too long deciding what to order, and believe the best connections are built over effortless conversations rather than interviews disguised as dates.

I’m not here expecting to find “the one.” I’m just hoping to meet someone who’s kind, emotionally mature, curious about life, and willing to let a conversation grow naturally. If it ends with a new friend, that’s great. If it turns into coffee, more conversations, or something neither of us expected, that’s even better.

If this felt a little different from the usual posts here, maybe send me a message. I’d love to know your story too.

Hyderabad readers, would you give a debut author a chance?

I’m a first time author from Hyderabad, and after months of writing, I’m finally close to finishing my debut novel.

Title: Coming Soon

Genre: Slow burn contemporary romance.
It starts with two strangers and one cancelled flight. What begins as an unexpected delay slowly turns into a journey that changes both of their lives.

Two strangers. One cancelled flight. A journey that changes everything.

I’m trying to write a romance that feels real, where the conversations, emotions, and relationships grow naturally instead of love happening overnight.

Before I publish it, I wanted to ask fellow readers here: Would you pick up a debut novel like this? If the story and writing connect with you, would you be willing to give a new author a chance?
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
