Grandson Found Some Ink Spots On $5 Banknote
My 12 year old grandson has taken an interest in banknote errors, ever since I started looking at collectible banknotes about 6 months ago. Neither of us are experts but he has a pretty good eye for finding anomolies in a banknote and patterns in the serial numbers. He found some small spots on this $5 and we talked about it when he brought it to my house one day. I asked him to tell me what he was seeing. He said small marks on the front and back that appear to be the same coloring as some of the designs, lettering and borders on the note. He pointed out some spots in the border on the reverse side. I didn't even notice them. I told him that small spots like that are probably common and likely happened post circulation so we looked up some in a paper money error book I have but we didn't see anything that was close to the spots on the banknote. He asked if I would put it on Reddit to see what some experts would say. That's how we got here. Please let me know what you think and I'll pass it on to him. Thank you.
