Cleaning coins

Cleaning coins

I know you aren't supposed to clean coins. I get that in my soul, but I was gifted a 2020 1oz silver dollar that's tarnished as heck, it's black. Not a pretty tarnished. If I put it in a jewelry bath, would I be ruining it forever? It's nothing special, just a silver dollar but I want ro store it properly from now on and I wondered if I really would be making it nothing but a hunk of silver if I cleaned it without touching it.

Is this some time of cud error? If so how much would it be worth?

The cud is at the left wheat stock

Just curious what this would be

Hi,

Could one of you fine error spotters help me out? Looks like the first 5 in 1955 might be filled in a little, the mint mark is indistinguishable (that might be PMD) And the right wheat stalk has some extra metal. Much thanks!

PMD or grease?

This coin is badly worn, there is a raised lump, and also a squiggly area. What happened to cause them?

7 different grading slabs — How would YOU rank them from worst to best respected?

Hi everyone!
I have these 7 different slabs and I’d like to know the community’s opinion on them.
Could you rank the grading slabs from least respected to most respected?

question: Which coin inside its slab do you think is the best one?

What is the error on this ‘72 Lincoln?

I was rolling some change today and came across this coin. It doesn’t appear to be from be damaged after production and the ‘chipped’ part is extremely smooth. I wish I could get better pictures but all I have on me is my iPhone. Another penny almost perfectly fills this missing portion on the ‘72. Does this have any value other than being a novelty?

Curious if these are errors with the AM touching.

I was going through a cup of coins because I got bored and felt like searching for anything rare. So I got in Google and started searching for rare coins.

1928 (P) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Uncirculated Red-Brown Woody. I really wish I didn't sell this.

1928 Lincoln Cent -- Brilliant Uncirculated, and look at that grain. This was one of several sales that I kind of wish I could have back. An UNC Woody (Improper Alloy Mix) set would be particularly difficult to piece together.

It is hard to have the true color come across in photos sometimes, but this one has a stunning red-brown mix where the red and brown tones follow the grain pattern through the surface. Most woodies are varying shades of brown.

This dime is missing the D above the year

There’s a regular dime for comparison. I collect coins and I was going through a big batch to see if there was anything interesting and I noticed that this dime was missing the D that’s on all the other dimes.
Is this an error or is it like fake or something?

Possible Double Die

I found a 1969 S with what looks like doubling in the word Liberty. This is where it is visible. Possibly some on the date. Thoughts?

u/GoldenRetreiverFan — 2 days ago

Found a double die (99% sure)

just need double checking that this is a double die of some sort. Worth anything above face?

Off center strike?

Noticed a split on the bottom rim. Would this be considered an off center strike?

Did I find one!?!

She may be ugly but I really can’t any trace of the FG unless I hold it in the exact right angle

2026 SemiQ ASE straight from Mint with error - Update

A couple of months ago, I posted about a Semi QuinCentennial ASE that I got straight from the Mint that had a stike through error linked (Here). I had ordered three of these, and one of my Son-in-Laws wanted this one. Right after he took possession of it, he created a PCGS account and sent it in. After months of waiting, here are the results:

- PF67

- DCAM designation

- Mint Error Stike Through Obverse designation

- First Strike Designation

- Pop: 0 designation (meaning there is no other graded higher with this error or it is a one of a kind)

I wanted to follow up and give an update to anyone who may have been following this. For insurance purposes, I am really not sure as to what the value could be since it is a PF67. I am also not sure the PF67 was assigned due to the error. Either way, I know that my son-in-law plans to hold on to this to pass down to my granddaughter one day. This has definitely been a new experience for us both, but it has definitely been a blast.

Interesting 67 Lincoln.

I know what I hope it is, but… just let me down easy 🤣 I don’t have any legit errors like this, so would be cool to finally get one!
