In a technical career with 0 technical certs. Debating on going for the AI/ML Masters

Hello!

I am a Staff AI architect for a top 250 company, I got here not through schooling but by being in the right place at the right time, for credentials I have a BS in psychology and a MBA from WGU.

I consider myself very technical starting as a speech analyst but eventually leveraging my way into data engineering over 4 years and with AI coming around I took to I’d pretty early, built some cool things and eventually got promoted to my current role.

Cutting to the chase, I feel like I have impostor syndrome since I never took any actual course to get here and this is causing me to feel stuck at my job since if I apply at other companies I am not sure I can’t past their technical requirements pass advanced SQL. This is being reflected in my Pay since I make 150k but whenever I google the industry standard for my role I get offers of around 170k - 250k.

I saw that WGU offers the AI/ML masters and believe I can probably complete it in one term. Do other individuals in similar positions feel like it benefited y’all in interviews as a way to not look to deep into the back ground and more of a check box that get reviewed and streamlined the hiring? I should also add I have 5 years experience in technical roles as a speech analyst for 2 and bi developer/database engineering for 3.

How to bring up to my partner that their diet sucks and is why they aren’t loosing weight?

I 28M have been dating my partner 25F for close to 8 months. Personality wise she is absolutely everything I have ever wanted in a partner, loving, caring, funny etc… I only really have one downside and it’s that I would classify her as overweight.

When we first met she admitted to not cooking and with her being a teacher she simply would get her food from school, she also never worked out and has a very sedentary lifestyle. She opened up to me about wanting to loose weight, for context I go to the gym and weight lift 4 times a week and run on average 15-20 miles a week and love to cook healthy meals.

I agreed to help her out and so she started going to the gym with me 3 times a week and we go on fairly long walks together, on average 5 miles a week which is a lot more than what she is used to.

However, I noticed that she has actually been gaining weight the past month not actually loosing any which came as a shock to me since I cook our dinners and with her workout I would have expected at least some weight loss, I have been staying the pass few nights at her place and I think I finally figured out it’s her diet when she is not with me that’s the issue.

She doesn’t understand calories, for breakfast she had a skinny bagel covered end to end with a thin Nutella layer and banana. Did some back of the napkin math and that alone came out to 600 calories for breakfast. The next day she had three eggs cooked in oil with cheese and a carb balance tortilla. Easy 800 calorie breakfast, for context she is 5”9’ and probably 220 pounds. Since she opened up to me about wanting to loose weight I feel like I can simply point blank ask her what she knows about calories, but she is part of several weddings this month and is a known stress eater so part of me worries that if I simply bring it up now in the middle of her busy wedding season it might back fire and make her stress eat more.

She has told me in the past that she actually avoided the doctor for years cause she was super embarrassed of her weight, and although she mentioned wanting help idk if me telling her point blank that she is probably eating 500 calories over her maintenance on the daily is the right approach. All advice is welcomed
