General IT or Cloud?

hey guys, im currently expecting to start my IT coursework in a few months. I'll be eligible for a pell Grant for 1 year, but it likely won't be able to follow me the next year due to a significant increase in income for next years fafsa. i am ultimately interested in cloud, but I am unemployed, so time is of the essence.

does anyone know which of the two degrees would be easier / faster?

I have completed all of the gened sophia classes, and I am currently working my way through A+, and i hope i can have the trifecta plus itil done before i start the degree program. I have also completed all of the sophia gen Ed's that I can.

I know the job market is rough right now, but I am very willing to relocate to a few different places if necessary.

even if I did the general IT degree path I would likely still do the cloud certs on my own time and try to move over to that in time.

Just because ChatGPT can't do your work for you does not mean it can't be incredibly helpful for planning and studying.

I have never been good at studying. I did well in middle and high school and wasn't challenged much. I would cram, maybe, but I never learned how to study properly. I graduated fine, but my first attempts at college were pretty tough as the work got significantly harder, and I didn't really have the built-up tools to apply myself to more difficult material.

But I've started using ChatGPT for school stuff. I already used it regularly before, but now that I'm focusing on accelerating classes, it's been a godsend. I gave it all my course chapters, my schedule, and when I want to finish the class. It gave me a checklist of things to knock out each day. And then at night, after I put the kids down, I can just tell it today's date. It will know which section I should be in, and then we'll do 7-question drills (2 retention questions based on topics from previous chapters and 5 on the current material). I know I get distracted easily, so 7 questions at a time is a sweet spot that keeps me from mentally drifting. It helps me keep a running error log of the questions I get wrong, with explanations of the right answers, so I can do as many 7-question drills as I want. I will also upload practice exam results to tailor my study roadmap and ensure I focus on weaker areas.

Could I have created all of this stuff on my own without the need for AI? For sure, but I'm now back in school in my 30s after almost a decade at my last attempt at college. I work full-time, and I'm a dad. I already feel like I'm juggling a million things mentally, and being able to offload even a bit of the cognitive load can sometimes mean the difference between me studying for the night or procrastinating and then getting frustrated the next day that I didn't study the night before, causing a cycle of stress > Avoidance > Frustration > Repeat.

Before, I would just sit down with no plan, read as much of the material as I could until I was sick of looking at it, make notes/flashcards I would never really look at again, and find myself falling into old patterns. With this, I was able to knock out my A+ Core 1 and make good progress on getting ready for the Core 2. Breaking the plan into smaller pieces and seeing tangible progress has made the future feel a lot less nebulous and overwhelming.

Edit: Note to my accelerators. Another thing that I had it do was switch to thinking mode, give it all the classes I had in my degree plan that I had left, and then research each class, combing through Reddit posts and everything to give me estimates on how quickly I could reasonably complete each class and maybe which classes I could rearrange to take together in order to accelerate as fast as possible. I mean, you can really give it whatever parameters you need for your life to take into consideration, but regardless, it's helped me plan things out well.

Is this program doable for me?

Hi everyone! I'm a single mom of 2 (shared custody) and work full time as a business/data analyst for a large insurance company. I've been in this field for 4 years and have been considering returning to school to further my knowledge in data analytics. My undergrad degree is not in STEM - I have a BS in Business Administration. I have experience in SQL but am not super advanced. Of the 3 specializations, DE looks most appealing. What's the workload like? Lots of programming and math? I know it's not as heavy on those as the data science specialty but am still wondering how much of it to expect.

I'd have to take classes part-time, and I'm wondering if it's worth doing the WGU pay-by-term route, or if a traditional part-time university program would better suit my situation. Any and all advice is appreciated.

I took a screen shot below and written out the steps on the screen shot, feel free to use it to your will. Your Welcome. Please feel free also to correct anything i put down as well. Maybe i might of missed a few steps.

i found a way to know official cutoff of GATE Mtech colleges

the official site for checking gate cutoff is https://admissions.nic.in/admiss/admissions/orcrjacd/105012521

But it had problem that you can't sort the data according to score. without it you can't use it.

So i extracted the data and created a site where I can easily check cutoffs and find the best for me.

Sharing here so everyone can use it for free 😄.

Passed C724 in one day

This class is pretty simple, If you can pass the pre test on first attempt without looking at the course material just look over each question and the 4 multiple choice answers and make sure you understand each answer provided. Right or wrong. The OA and PA are similar but slightly different. To make sure I understood each answer I just put them into chat gpt and asked for an explanation and that gave me the information I was lacking to pass the OA. Good luck guys.

Hi, I’ve been studying for this exam and I saw some comments saying that Quizlet questions are really good. Is there anyone who has taken the exam recently, and what did you use as a study source?👀

Joining the "MSITUG" BSIT to MSIT program! Getting prepped.

I have worked in IT, specifically software engineering, for over 15 years now, and decided that now is a good time to get my degrees.

I have been very lucky to move from job to job without needing a degree, but I have reached the level of Supervisor / Lower Management and I can see there are some skills and rep I need to progress higher or to get a seat at certain tables. So I now is finally the right time to get a degree.

Also been tinkering with Local LLMs and decided to see if it could help me prep my documents and timelines so I can stay organized and on schedule. Fed it the PDF program guide and asked Junie CLI connected to Gemma4 26b to Create the files for each course and create gantts for each standard term so I can see where I am. And I had it add cards to my KanBan too.

Anyone else starting MSITUG in June?

Grateful.

After dropping out of college twice before, WGU was my last attempt to earn a degree. I always felt like I didn't "fit in" because all my friends/loved ones had degrees and I was the only dropout. Funny enough, I didn't get this degree because I "needed" it, but rather because I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I'm blessed to already have a great job, but having this gives me a good back-up plan if things ever go downhill.

That being said, I wanted to thank every single person on this subreddit that has contributed with posts or comments. You have allowed so many people like myself to finally get to see the confetti screen after countless hours of studying and sleepless nights.

For anyone who has questions about this degree or anything to do with my experience, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm more than happy to be transparent with my responses, it's the least I can do!

Career?

Hey guys, I’m simply on this forum for opinions. I am looking to apply but I am hesitant. I wanted to do Cybersecurity or Data analysis, but I’ve seen a lot of videos and information steering me from them. Basically saying they do not teach, and it’s only worth it if you already know the field.

So, any suggestions or recommendations? Please I really want to further my education/career path, and I am in a great point in my life with my availability to do so. So before I dive head first, I’d like some more information.

New MSIT Acceleration

Hello everyone, is anyone accelerating through the new MSIT Program? I'd love to hear how it's going. I'm hoping to complete it in 1 term, but I already have 3 courses transferring over from the BSIT.

New BSIT Program?

Hi y'all,

I apologize if this question has been asked a million times; it seems like most posts are from over a year ago. I just wanted to ask if any of you guys have transferred over to the new BSIT program, and if you have, do you regret it?

I was asked if I was interested, mainly because the Web Dev portion of the old IT program is a little irrelevant (to me at least), and the new BSIT program has a more hands-on approach and more Python. It would only add 1 additional course to my current degree plan, and I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and swap over. I am not a huge fan of PAs but I'm willing to live with that if I never touch web dev again.

I'd love to know what you guys think. Thanks!

Just need to vent frustration with D336 ITIL course and Instructor

Not sure if anyone has dealt with this, but when I first scheduled my exam, the time zone was wrong and I had to take my exam within the hour! I was not prepared so I failed by one question.

I told the instructor this, and that I even called People Cert’s support like and the representative couldn’t figure out the time zone thing either.

I asked the instructor if I could get an extra voucher if I needed it, and she completely disregarded my question. Not only that, she told me to do a bunch of coursework before I could get approval again. I finished last term with retrying- and kept moving forward with other courses.

The practice exams she has are horrible. I saw many students gave bad reviews. It has 2.6 stars- and she still hasn’t changed this.

Besides being highly unresponsive and taking forever to email back, I now have time to take the exam this term- tonight actually! And of course, no answer.

I’m trying to request the voucher to no avail.

Passed Intro to Python E010

I passed intro to Python in about one week started around May 3rd. I used only the Zybook for the material. Was my first Proctor U exam and took about 30-40 minutes to just get the approval to start the exam. However, when I was actually taking the exam itself wasn't that bad. I have a small room so finding angle for them to see my mouse and monitor require me to move my set up a little further away from the wall so they can see the mouse. Overall the class wasn't hard but was a pain in the butt to get into the exam lol.
