First IT Offer of the year!

Hi all,

One of my favorite sub reddits btw. I just received my first IT/Service Desk Manager offer after interviewing the past 7 months. For some reason I'm not as excited as I should be. The industry is just in a very disappointing state and hasn't really fueled any spark in me. Let's cover the role.

Growing company ( Engineering / Mechanical/ Construction Industry)

9-11 analyst - I have the opportunity to scale the desk and hire a lead if needed.

Fully onsite with more locations opening so opportunity to travel and relocate. I currently work fully onsite but would love to go back to remote or hybrid. Not really a change here. Commute is short under 15 min.

Opportunity to make the service desk my own. I was previously a solo IT so i liked this concept.

Bonus, only two interviews before the offer and received offer a few hours later after the second interview.

A blend of hands on technical and business leadership.

IT is growing and expecting to double within the next 1-2 years. So maybe opportunity for more promotional growth. My experience spans across IT and Cybersecurity.

In comparison to the salary ranges I've interviewed for it is on the lower end but only 4k away from crossing 100k . I'm just seeking more due to YOE.

It's been a year since I've worked in tech and seeing the downfall is something lol overall this offer has a lot of pros than cons. Maybe not being excited is a good thing but humbling this market is insane. I will take the time to review and decide.

New to this

Hi all,

Recently was diagnosed last year and life has changed tremendously. It’s been a year since my first manic episode and haven’t had another one since. Still rebuilding my life but it’s coming along. Working a part time job right now until I can get back into my career field ( Tech ). Currently pursuing my Master’s and just taking things day by day.

A lot of things I no longer tolerate or do but it just comes with time.

Going on almost a year without taking meds. However, I am seeking a new psychiatrist, therapist/life coach and overall just want to actually get another assessment. I didn’t believe the diagnose at first and still don’t but takings at a slower pace. Do I think I’m neurodivergent ? Yes! Bipolar ? No

Recently joined this sub reddit and just wanted to let everyone know you are brave, you will overcome and keep on keeping on. Looking forward to sharing progress , motivation and solutions for recovery and healing.

Baseball Stadium dishwasher

My first job was a dish washer at the baseball stadium. I was first placed in a bigger kitchen and it was horrific and immediately got moved to a smaller kitchen within a popular fancier club suite. Those days were fun but I do not miss it. Got to meet a lot of celebs, eat great food and some cool coworkers. S/O to all the dish washers out there making it happen and out !

What if 2020 never happened ?

Where would you be if 2020 never happened ?

What would you be doing if 2020 never happened ?

Looking back 2020 plays alot into of our lives till this day whether we acknowledge or not. Since then everything just feels rushed and chaotic within society with the same systematic issues just leveling up a notch.

As for myself graduated in 2019 then boom the world shutdown. I had no real lead way into my career to figure out what I wanted to do I just moved forward and did what's best. Lost within the structure and autonomy of it all. As of today still on track with many things and lived a lot of lives. Since front lobe development and in my late 20s for my saturn return priorities are changing. Looking forward to elevating and living even more in my 30s.

Granted some days adulting sucks lol but enjoying the fruits of my labor has been rewarding.

Italy 2028

Hi all,

I have been exploring this reddit for quite some time. I've dreamed of traveling to Italy for pasta and nonstop walking lol. Looking to plan my first Italy trip for my 30th birthday in 2028. Let's dive in to my proposed itinerary and welcome to suggestions. Nothing is settled yet but this is based on ideal locations and experiences I'll like to explore.

10 day trip in April 2028

First Leg of the trip I would like to stay inland. All hotels for both legs will be Hilton Brand

Florence - Bologna - Florence

Day 1 - Arrival / Check in Hotel / Rejuvenate from jet lag and time change / catch a vibe of Florence to set the tone for the trip

Day 2 - Explore the city and sights. For as food I'm looking for a good Florentine steak and some must try cultural dishes. I have a few restaurants in mind but open to suggestions. Wondering if there are any food tour options with wine pairings. I ultimately may have time for an afternoon wine tour depending how long they last. A real Tuscany wine experience would be chic.

Day 3 - Day trip to Bologna , tour Lamborghini museum and test drive one ( all day excursion )

Day 4 - Day trip to The Mall Firenze (outlet) for designer shopping. Will have a private driver for this. End shopping day with a pleasant meal.

Day 5 - Travel day by train to Naples for 2nd Leg of the trip ( Coastal )

Naples - Sorrento - Amalfi/ Capri: For this portion of the trip it will mainly be a free for all type of vibe/ live like a local. For as food I'm mainly seeking seafood(shrimp/lobster) , pastas, and must try cultural dishes. I'll be transitioning from the wine to the aperol spritz. My main excursion is the yacht for this second leg but open to cooking classes, photoshoot, beach clubs and luxury spa experiences.

Day 5 continued - Settle into Naples , Explore

Day 6 - More exploring of Naples

Day 7 - Day Trip to Sorrento maybe by Ferry or Train

Day 8 - Full Day private Yacht charter and visit Amalfi / Capri

Day 9 - A second hit at Sorrento, Amalfi , Or Capri depending on which I'll most like based on day 7-8

Day 10 - Departure

Note: Open to nightlife experiences if there are any based on these locations ( Cultural live music, jazz, hip-hop/R&B, Speakeasy/Cigar Lounges, Rooftops ). I am an avid walker that loves views whether architectural, coastal, nature/flowers/parks, neighborhood exploring.

MSIT ( AI Tasks )

Just started the term Aug 1. Currently taking E011 and wanted to know if all the courses have this separate AI task for each task ?

I completed task 1 and decided to run it through two different AI detectors and the results are very different. Unsure how to proceed but will have the professor review before submission. Seems like I have to dumb myself down a lot just to not get flagged for AI while having to use AI for improvements in work for final documents. A little contradicting if you ask me.

Anyone having the same issues ?

Late To The Bear ( POV)

Hello everyone,

I must admit it took me about 4 times to actually sit and get into The Bear. This show has brung some great memories from working in the kitchen in my teen years and sometimes even parallels. Going to do a quick dive into my favorite characters so far. I am in season 4 ep 2/3 I believe nonetheless here I go.

Carmy- I love the actor since Lip in Shameless so it was cool to see him staying in chicago lol. However, I feel like Carmy lacks character development for some reason. His character mainly develops everyone in the kitchen except himself. Like most bosses that's expected but man his back story is phenomenal writing just wish we can see the actual growth in present time. We do see it in some areas but I guess it lacks consistency? Won't know until I'm completed with the series.

Sydney - I love her and wish she spoke up for herself more when it comes to Carmy. For example, debating signing the contract, it's like she had all these goals from wanting a star, being a chef, and just being successful overall in the industry and it's like she second guesses herself in some scenes or story lines of certain episodes. I want more from her and hope to see more as I continue the series. Also, hope they ship her and Marcus I love their scenes.

Richie/Cousin: Absolutely loved his character development. He couldn't understand the route and mission behind Carmy's vision for the restaurant until he stepped into a true Michelin star restaurant. That was my favorite ep of the series thus far. That experience completely changed his outlook on life and aura for the restaurant.

Tina: I adore Tina and her backstory episode was another favorite of mine as well. I'm happy that she ended up there and just grew along with it. May not be enough but it provided what she needed.

Marcus: My favorite. I love his passion to learn and just absorb from carmy and sydney and his other co workers. He's almost like the glue in ways.

Sweeps and Ebraheim: I wish they got more screen time and a back story ep.

Favorite Hilton Brands

What's your favorite Hilton Brand and why ?

For starters I've been a honors member and had the opportunity to work as a front desk agent for a short period of time. I got to experience being a gold and diamond member ( what a difference in service from silver lol ). Below is my take on my favorite brands and why. All takes are city dependent as well. Generally just speaking to past time on my night shift.

DoubleTree 8/10 - When I first started traveling this was my go to brand. I still book them depending on the nature of the trip. Generally great service and restaurants on property. If the property is updated its usually aligned with the cities theme. If it's not updated it can be hit or miss but still allows a good experience. My most recent experience was Houston galleria area. The restaurant on property was 10/10 and bar service was phenomenal. My room was upgraded to a suite and it was basically a mini apartment. Never seen a doubletree like it although it was a tad outdated it was perfect.

Embassy 8/10 - Same as doubletree, love the happy hour option and room sizes great for long stays or small group travel. The most recent Embassy I visited was Downtown Nashville. Beautiful property, a lot of amenities, and surrounding by all the downtown Nashville action.

Canopy 10/10 - I should have led with this but Canopy is my favorite. The service, the personal boutique feel. Most are designed based on the dedicated city/area its located. My favorite property locations so far are Chicago, Dallas-Uptown, and Scottsdale, AZ. Anytime I travel and it's a Canopy in the city I will book it every time.

Tapestry/Curio Collection 9/10 - I haven't stayed in as many of these but I do love how the properties are designed. Aiming to stay at more of these in coming years. Especially internationally they look even better.

Hilton Garden Inn/Hampton Inn 7/10 - Generally great for a budget quick trip. Hit or Miss if outdated. Even better if they are downtown.

Home2Suites/Homewood 7/10 - Great for extended stays, work travel and small group travel.

Waldorf Astoria/Conrad/LXR - I have yet to try but most properties look amazing. I want my first Waldorf experience to be Cabo. Looking forward to experiencing more of these properties internationally.

Honestly it's kind of hard to support other independent hotel brands which such offerings as Hilton. I do want to branch out and try other's as well. Hopefully one day I can become a hotelier.

Let me know what you think and open to discuss anything further.

Labor Day Flight Prices

Recently was just using google flights and came across a good RT flight for $150 from STL - Nashville. I thought it was decent and could possibly wait it out ( It was late at night when I discovered it so I passed on purchasing at the moment). I look again today (Saturday) and price jumped to $266 RT (bummer). Wondering if the price will drop on Tuesday/Thursday. Nonetheless it would have been a real chill getaway.

NEW MSIT Program.

Hello everyone,

I start the new MSIT program on August 1st. I've completed orientation and all the CPTs for each course. I scored pretty high on most of the CPTs and will go over them with my mentor. To give you some context, I have over 8 years of industry experience and a Bachelor's CS degree. I haven't been in school in over 8 years, so I'm a little nervous. Looking for insight into how you tackle PA's and accommodate with your work schedule. What are the hardest courses versus the easiest? Tools and tips for aligning rubrics and PA tasks? Can it be completed in one term, as I am paying out of pocket?

Based on the program, I believe I chose a great fit as I pivot into more technology leadership roles. Looking forward to your comments, recommendations, and support. If you would like to dive deeper with me about the program, feel free to message me, and we can connect on WGU Connect as well.
