Pure Nintendium
I stored this thing away around a decade ago almost with the intention to sell/give away as the Switch was approaching (I’m a minimalist of sorts).
Glad I didn’t though - yesterday I dug it out after reading about a recent resurgence in 3ds popularity.
The damn thing still can hold charge after all this time being dormant, probably still on par with Switch 2. It’s got some minor battle scars and survived a drop, but is in pretty good shape overall. It travelled overseas with me and got me through tough times throughout 2013-2015 in particular.
I bought it primarily for Pokemon Y, which I played to death (followed by Sun), yet I still have ORAS, HGSS, and B2W2 in my backlog.
It also turned out to provide my first experience with MGS3, Yoshis Woolly World, Majoras Mask, and Dragon Quest 8 (which I bounced off of).
With CFW I feel like it’s it’s a bit more sluggish than I remember, like when booting/returning to the home menu, is that common, and fixable?
Also sometimes when booting a DS game it hangs on a white screen.
Overall it’s nice to have rediscovered this gem. I love the cozy book-like experience of using it. I’m open to any other good homebrew recommendations.
