FSD Auto Lane Changing out of HOV Lane
I have a 2026 MY with FSD. I was driving tonight in FSD and the car decided to change lanes out of the HOV (carpool) lane and crossed double yellow lines. I didn’t notice that the car was initiating the lane change and by the time it started changing lanes, I didn’t want to pull the steering wheel back and potentially cause an accident. Of course, the car behind me was a CA highway patrol officer. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket. I explained what happened to him and his comment was that he couldn’t “write Elon Musk a ticket” but he could cite me.
I’m not blaming FSD as I should have been more aware, but this is kind of ridiculous. I’ve had my car try to change lanes out of the HOV lane before and I caught it in time. Has anyone else had this happen, received a ticket, and fought it?
I’ve had the car for one year as of June, put 29k miles on the car, and have about 83% of my miles driven on FSD.
