My (31) wife(33-34) is OBSESSED (Mariah Carey Obsessed) with the holidays. She loves everything about the holidays, so I want to give her a Christmas themed birthday celebration. A few things to note that are making my life difficult:

  • We live in AZ, it's like almost triple digits already
  • Her bday is in a few weeks
  • We live pretty far from everyone and everything. But I'm willing to drive.
  • A surprise party is out of the question.
  • She loves gaming, is a homebody mostly and antisocial.

I don't want it to be corny or cheesy. I just want it to really sink in and make her believe its Christmas, or at least a little taste, without me having to haul out our Flocked faux tree and glass ornaments xD

Probably a GREAT first impression upon me joining this community - but I thought I'd give my favorite place a try. I already work in what my boss likes to call a "back office", and hold a quasi title of "accounting manager" but I would like to be a bona fide CPA and am working on my associates degree in business currently. I've been assigned an interview with someone who holds a position in the career I'd like to have one day, I have already reached out to a few of my friends who work in related fields, small-business owners etc. But at this "late" hour I thought, WHY NOT REDDIT? So, I'm hoping someone would like to talk about their experience. Questions below if you'd be so kind, thank you in advance!!

  • Please introduce yourself and give us a little more information about your current occupation.
  • What kind of education, training, or background does your job require?
  • What skills, abilities, and personal attributes are essential to success in your current position?
  • What are some things about your job that you were completely surprised by once you actually became an x?
  • What role does communication (oral/written) play in your role as an "x"? Can you give examples?
  • If someone is not a good writer or speaker, what would they struggle doing in your job?
  • Who are all the different kinds of audiences that you communicate with throughout your work week?
  • What changes or challenges do you face when communicating with each?
  • What is the number one rule when communicating in your profession?
  • What are the biggest challenges you face in terms of communication in your job?
  • In what ways have you had to change as an individual to take on the identity of a "x" at your job?
  • What strategies have you used in order to gain authority as a writer/communicator?
  • Knowing what you do now about your profession, what advice would you give someone just entering this field in terms of (1) "fitting in," (2) writing/speaking with authority, and (3) "getting ahead"?
