I am a plumbing apprentice, 1 month into service plumbing - still quite green. one of my main jobs is finding and repairing leaks in large buildings tI have never been to before, nor do I have the building plans readily available.

Today I was in a commercial space on the ground floor with residential units above me in a big 6 story condo. Usually I can determine the location of the leaky pipe by the nature of the drain layout, pipe diameter etc.. but today I had to find a 4" XFR stack that was behind a wall. I usually just trace out my steps from the elevator to find the pipe but im thinking there is a much better way to do this. Hyper accurate GPS? I sometimes screw up my steps when I do this strategy and when it comes to entering peoples homes and requesting access, I hope to be more certain of where I'm looking.

any thoughts appreciated, thanks
