I'm new to MTG, should I hate Spider-Man too?

I'm new to MTG, having lots of fun. I keep losing, keep getting spanked by my more experienced friends, and I still enjoy the game.

I got started by purchasing an entry card bundle from Costco. Since then I've purchased 'First Flight' and 'Ahoy Mateys' precon commander decks and a few new 'Strixhaven' packs. I have no doubts that I will continue buying and investing in this game.

Whatever your response here I am here to stay, I'm enjoying the game and won't stop playing because I genuinely enjoy the game and won't stop because of this post.

But everyone seems to hate the Spiderman set. Should I, essentially, drop the Spiderman cards I already have and move onto other, more established, sets? Or is it 'ok' if I buy another few Spiderman packs and build a deck around it?

I guess what I'm asking is, as a newcomer, what should I be looking for when it comes to playing this game?

I'm thinking of buying a booster box of 'Horizons III' or 'Foundations' or the new 'Strixhaven'.

But should I avoid flushing out a 'Spiderman' deck or avoiding the Star Trek set when it comes out?

*Basically, I'm having fun. But will investing in certain sets detract from my fun because certain sets 'suck' and make me keep losing or keep me from understanding the game as a whole?
