the "isekai" problem

I want to preface this by saying i don't like using the term isekai for this but it's probably the more convenient option when trying to describe a story wherein a character is forced into a world unfamiliar or alien to them. Although if you loosen the definition like that, anything can be an isekai. I want to improve my writing so I'm looking for advice on a topic kind of central to such a format.

I'm not sure if this fits on the subreddit but I figured if anyone can give their thoughts on this it'd be others into writing. For the past few years I've been developing such a world and recently backed myself up into a corner when tasked with the following problem.

The question being how to involve a character deeper in the story where they are forced into a world they don't belong, as a participant versus passive audience.

How does one handle the format, given the lack of connection between the world and participating party

(of course, without forcing said character into something they don't belong in)

In such a format, you cant exactly connect a pre-existing story to the one of an outsider.

How is one supposed to feel immersion or empathy in a world that is alien to them, moreover get content catered to them,

or even a purpose for their existance in such a world?

(proof incoming....)

I have thought up some stuff already (that being, a reactive enviroment that is affected by the character just as much as the character is affected by it, alongside certain aspects in the existing world that reflect a character's personal psychology), i'm just looking to get as many opinions as i can, to have a clearer picture.

It's an interesting problem i'm facing, and thought someone more familiar with writing than I would be able to give me advice or tell me how others handle it.

Thanks in advance!

the isekai problem

i want to involve the members of my RP into the story more than simply as the audience. but the very participants in it.

On the topic of writing for participating characters in an RP

How does one handle the isekai format, given the lack of connection between the world and participating party

In such a format, you cant exactly connect pre-existing lore to the lore of an outsider

How is one supposed to feel immersion or empathy for a world that is alien to them, moreover get content catered to them

or even a purpose for their existance in such a world

thanks in advance

this is probably some of my first "proper" work, so don't expect much. might be a little edgy. i just felt as if i needed to share it, so.

Lovers in Hell

Once there were two lovers, whose last words were "i love you".

Buried in one coffin, for they could not tell who was who.

In hell they met, with deep regret for one another's fate.

"Were I not damned- I would've jumped after you anyway."

They held, embraced, each other's face on their last living day.

They sobbed into each other's arms as both had burned away.

But lo- within the searing glow, they danced among the flames.

Each step over burning hot coals, just to repeat the same.

Then blazing whips of nettle leaf crackled among the pyre, an audience of demons, beasts alike in howling choir.

"They whipped and growled as we danced in their envious rage.

Coveting our love- they mocked, a freakshow in a cage."

Elegantly twirling, steps- avoiding every crack.

For even still, they danced with legs and arms now long scorched black.

The char of rotting flesh and bone did nothing to disuade- a tiny peck upon the neck of their beloved, flayed.

The skin they bore, not unlike cloth- had long been peeled away.

Till none could even tell what sin had led them both astray.

Their bodies slouched, hellfire welding, wrapped up in a chain.

Now together, forever; "They'll never seperate us again."

Their lips still tasted sickly sweet, beneath metallic grime, and so they danced into the night until the end of time.
