Mechanical Fuel Pump dying after driving uphill

I broke down in my 1982 GAZ 24 Volga yesterday.

Whenever i was driving fast ~50mph and uphill it was starting to sputter and loose power, even after clearing the hill the power wouldn't come back for some time.

Yesterday it just died on a highway entrance after sputtering up the hill.

Upon inspection the Mechanical Fuel pump had died, even pumping manually via the small lever didn't pump any fuel out, instead it was feeding gas directly into the engine.

This is an easy fix, but I'm still paranoid.

The fuel line coming from the gas tank had pressure on it and was filled to the brim.

I just don't understand why on low speeds, even if i was really pushing it, everything worked fine but as soon as i surpass ~40mph it did this going uphill.

Could this be caused by another part of the fuel system or some vacuum leak, maybe even the carb?

I don't wanna replace the pump, Oil and Filer, and then immediately break the next one.

Worried about Optimisation.

Chapter 2 looks amazing.

I will not argue with that, but all things they have shown were small and stuff you could also build now and have running well with the smart physics.

But i really couldn't care less about all the new content if we still can't properly use it without the game turning into a power point presentation everytime you spawn a car with more than 8 wheels, or god forbid you have 2 wedge pieces rotating next to each other.

All i ever wanted was them to just make the physics not suck as much as they do now.

They will never be perfect and that's ok, but there should be a certain level of complexity where the game should still run fine and if that level is a basic platform with wheels lazily slapped under it and a simple turret seat on top, I'm not happy.

Every trailer they've shown since survival only ever showed really simple wonky cars wich makes it look like the devs really don't intend for you to actually build intricate big contraptions.

The first things i though about when they revealed the turret seat 3(?) Years ago wasn't the possibilities this would open for us and how much fun it will be, it was that this thing looks like it could easily cause the game to crash if you use it in a way the devs didn't intend to.

The new trailer reinforces this concern.

Sorry for being overdramatic.

Always remember what they took from us.

There was literally no reason to remove this and is still today, the biggest gripe i have with this game.

We had it all there, easily accessible.
You didn't have to search for your weld tool the 25th time in a row because you accidentally replaced it with some pipe piece.

Sure they replaced it with a nice tab in the inventory but it's just one more button to press to get what i need when it could be so easy.
