RC Health or GA Institute of EMS

I am almost set on RC due to it being cheaper than GA Institute and a lot more flexible as for Institute, I’d have to go in person for a night class every week and it’s 4k, which is too expensive. I’ve seen a lot of ppl take about RC’s communication issues but I feel like as long as I’d be able to prepare myself to pass the NREMT and work well, that’s all that matters. I don’t think I can sacrifice so much time for Institute as I will be a full time student (premed) this fall. Is it really as bad as others say? Is it manageable as long as I keep up with the modules? Will I be totally unprepared for working as an EMT? I truly wouldn’t want to be very lost and a burden. Would I eventually learn the skills? Please let me know if it’s okay, especially as a motivated and determined student, thank you!!

Edit: I’m in GA.

Allergy chef card for peanuts and walnuts in Japanese & Korean

I’ve seen those for peanuts and nuts, but I’m good with nuts besides peanuts, walnuts, and their oils, and don’t want to miss out on foods with almonds, cashews, etc. Please let me know if there are any chef cards for peanuts, walnuts, and their oils!! :))

Edit: Do these make sense?

Biological Sciences pre-meds

I’m considering changing my biochem major to biological sciences!! Have any successful pre-meds done this? I think my main concern is job prospects as a back up, but I’m 100% committed to medicine. Any advice is welcome!!

3.7/3.8+ gpa possible as a biochem major pre-med?

I will be premed, so my gpa would be very important. Is a ~3.8 GPA at Penn possible if I major in biochemistry with maybe a minor in Spanish or at the least taking a Spanish course each semester/most semesters while cushioning my gpa with the easiest classes I can do? I was thinking of switching to HSOC since I am committed to pre-med and the GPA boost would be amazing, but I can’t shake off the risk of not making it to medical school and being stuck with a more useful degree, especially since I’m more of a stem person. Please help!!!

Incoming freshman. Honestly, I’m just worried about biochem lowering my gpa especially as a premed. Will my gpa as a biochem major vs hsoc or other major really be a drastic difference? Will I be disadvantaged by not majoring in biochem in the eyes of adcoms? I really love chem, and wanted to pair it with a medical aspect, so I chose biochem.

Edit:
HSOC with chemistry or Spanish minor
OR
Biochemistry with Spanish minor
I am pre-med and most concerned about GPA, but also want to stand out in terms of my major.

Which is better for pre-med hoping to research immunology and orthopaedics on disadvantaged communities? I want to be able to commit to a lab and have a lot of support as I’m new to research, but I also need flexibility with my schedule as I have many commitments and research is not my 1st priority for med school apps (more focused on clinical hrs and community service).

FERBS
- 5 hrs/week
- 2 paid sunmer internships
- have to take biol 1850 (not required for my biochem major nor premed reqs)
- more guided which I like

UScholars
- 1 hr/week to discuss @ meeting
- Summer funding for research
- more flexible, but have to find my own lab & mentor?

Is Lauder a good option as a premed if I am introverted but don’t want to be isolated from the social activities? Is it really as isolated as I heard? I don’t party and will likely not be at events or activities at night, but when people say social, is it house activities or is it the people you’re surrounding yourself with? I want to make more friends than I did in HS (was very isolated), but I also don’t want to be distracted as I’ll be very busy. I want the option to go to events and like interacting some but also the ability to retreat to my dorm when I would like. I just don’t want it to be pin-drop silent and lonely. Also, I’ll most likely be having a single as I will have an accommodation. Also, what about singles in Stouffer, KCECH, and Riepe?

What are the best work-study jobs on campus I should t try for as a pre-med? Preferably one that I could add to my med school app, a clinical job if that’s possible?, and one that is flexible and that I can do homework at the same time‼️Other possibilities are ones you genuinely enjoyed throughout your years and ones that felt like a break from studying.

Urgent: I am torn between these two and plan to major in biochem on the pre-med track. I have appealed for Penn and this is the current situation. My parents are paying for undergrad + med school, and I would be able to graduate debt-free for both undergrads. If I went to UGA, I’d graduate debt-free and my parents would have 250k saved for med school without loans. If I went to Penn, I’d graduate debt-free but I would have roughly 50k ready for med school without loans. I am most concerned about whether Penn would be worth it or if I should “settle.” I’d only be happy about being close to home but sad bc I was excited about the opportunity of going to Penn. If cost wasn’t an issue, I’d go to Penn. Still, I have to think about the long run in my career in medicine, which I’m 100% committed to. Still, I know anything can happen.

UPenn:

Pros
- Ivy, more respected for medical skl adcoms
- I feel like I fit there more
- Great medical hub- no shortage of opportunities
- Alumni Network for med school and residency later

Cons
- $$$, less saved for medical school, senior year tuition likely will go up 40% due to sibling graduating
- Slight grade deflation, so GPA would likely be lower (not sure how much)
- Far away from home/family

UGA:

Pros
- Close to home, 1 hr away
- Tuition free (total cost around 25-28k)
- Likely to have a higher GPA

Cons
- Less medical resources/opportunities
- Not sure about quality of chem department
- have to apply for honors for the next semester bc didn’t apply for fall

As an introvert and someone w/ a chance to get a single due to medical accommodation, I’m leaning towards having a single as freshman. Do the benefits of having a single as a freshman outweigh the cons, and will you have a social life (a couple close friends) regardless? Do people overstate that you’ll be missing out on the “freshman experience” or “most important time of development”? I just feel like having a single will make me feel more comfortable, free, and focused in general. Anyone had a single as a freshman? Advice? Regrets? Thanks in advance!

Also, if I got a single due to an accommodation, am I limited in my choices? Which would be best as a freshman having a single. I prefer a quieter area (as in I don’t want to hear constant noise that is bothersome), I’ll need to be near my stem (biochem) and language courses, tennis courts, and hospitals for ec’s. I also am not a partier whatsoever, so I’d like to avoid any communities/houses that are chaotic/loud. I’d really appreciate any advice, thank you!
