Sharing a free tool for genealogists!
Hi all, I've been hobbying at genealogy for over 20 years, since middle school, and have a large tree of over 18,000 relatives where most of my ancestors lines reach back to their origins outside the US (I'm american). I'm a big history nerd and always wished I had a better tool to link my ancestors to the moments in history that surrounded them. Well, with AI that became possible for me to do!
I created circatimeline.org which lets you enter the events with a date and place for an ancestor's life and then a curated database of over 106,000 historical events I built is queried to build a timeline of the moments that may have impacted their life!
I deliberately built it to be completely free, completely anonymous and no personal identifiable information is captured or stored. You can print the timeline, or share with a friend via a link!
I hope this doesn't come across like a pure self-plug because Ive genuinely built this for myself and simply want to provide it as a resource to this community, and I truly hope I can simply share this tool with the community of people who would appreciate it like me!
If you try it please let me know what you think and if you found it helpful placing your ancestors in history!
