Used Prodigy - what do I look out for?

Found a used 5" Prodigy Comp for around a grand. Owner says roughly 2k rounds through it. Comes with 6 mags, a Holster and two optic plates which I can't use.

I know the earlier Prodigys had some QC/reliability issues, so I wanted to ask what exactly I should inspect. Mainly:

  • optic plate fit/play
  • extractor/ejector stuff
  • slide/frame fit
  • mag reliability?
  • any parts that wear unusually fast

I don’t want to buy someone else’s headache. Anything specific I should look out for on the Comp models? Are the Prodigies all POS?

Do you still “hit” the retention release during dry fire if the hood is already down?

Running a level 2 holster with a hood for dry fire and I was wondering how you guys handle the retention release in practice.

If the hood is already down, do you still mimic/index the release lever movement every single rep to keep the drawstroke consistent, or do you just ignore it since it’s technically unnecessary in that state?

My thinking is that building the exact same motion every time is probably better long term, especially under stress, but I’m curious what people with more reps on ALS/SLS style holsters do.

(Pic for attention)

I'm pretty interested in the Srike SMC Bravo Chassis but I'm unsure if I'd like it. Has anyone already bought one and can chime in?

I’m trying to decide between running a polymer frame vs an aluminum one on my primary pistol, and I’m kind of stuck.

At first the aluminum felt a bit more comfortable compared to polymer. Now I honestly can’t tell which one I actually shoot or handle better.

Polymer:

  • Lighter
  • ???

Aluminum:

  • Heavier, more solid
  • Different grip angle/feel
  • ???

I’m not noticing a huge performance difference yet, which makes it harder to choose. What is your rationale for choosing?

I'd like to run a spare GHM9 swiss sidefolder on another PCC build to not have to buy extra parts. Is there anyway I can make this work on a 1913 Rail via an adapter?

Or is there anything else I can use it for except an awkward spoon.
