Mischief Machine Compact mag needs force to seat

So I recently picked up a mischief machine compact grip for the echelon. I have the stock compact mags. I notice that the mags require significantly more force to seat properly with the grip. Is that to be expected? Or should I contact mischief machine? Would the issue be resolved or helped by installing 3rd party magazine release? Thank you

Holsters

I guess I made the notorious mistake of ordering from safailand, I got the shipping email on the 18th after waiting since I placed the order on April 28th, and it still hasn't moved yet lol, are these holsters worth all the waiting or what would you guys recommend?

Upgrade recommendations

I just got a flash light on my Full Size Echelon, I am going to probably get an Osight C. Is there any other upgrades either internal or external I should look at?

My Echelon 4.5 Comped

Just Purchased my first fullsize springfield handgun (2nd handgun overall) i started with the Glock 48 and its still my everyday carry for now, im not sure if the Echelon can replace it since its bigger and also the fact that ive never carried a fullsize either. Im also looking for other Red Dot sights since i heard the Viridian isnt that great but i think im gonna use it for now or at least for my first 500 Rounds. Anyways Yup, super excited!

Help deciding on an optic

Hello everyone,

I have been debating what optic to buy for a little over a week now and I was looking for some advice. I want an optic that doesn't need a baseplate, but I am having trouble figuring out what does and does not.

Quite a few of the optics I wanted I have since found out require an additional baseplate.

Any recommendations? Price does not matter. It is going on a 4.0 c for conceal carry. Preferably a smaller optic.

Edit: I should have clarified that I am mostly interested in Enclosed optics

What’s the actual difference between the alpha and regular? Whats the point?

Like I’m reading the articles. You get one mag…one back strap and a cheaper front sight. The slide cut is whatever probably will feel the same but everything else is the same? Are they going to push out more alpha than regular 4.0C now? Is the street price is gonna be even lower? I paid $599 before tax and shipping for my 4.0C with 5 mags. The puts the gun around $500 or below…. That’s already cheap? Are they going to steal some customers from the RxM market? Because if the echelon’s street price ends up being $490 bucks it’s hard to go for the RxM imho…. My dad might finally give up his Gen 3 g19 now.

Grip Modules

I'm looking to possibly upgrade to a medium or large grip module for my 4.0c.

Does anyone have personal pictures with the differences between the modules?

Anyone run the osight XR on their echelon? Does carbon/gas build up on the glass?

I'm getting an echelon soon but I'm curious about how the carbon or gas build up is on it, since I'm coming from an m&p carry comp that has the cut inside the slide that directs gas away from the red dot.

Gun stuck

Just got a new US Duty Gear holster for my 4.5” comped Echelon with X300 light. Now it’s stuck inside the holster. Any ideas or suggestions on how to get it out? It’s a level 2 retention holster similar to a Safariland. I’m not even sure what’s keeping it stuck. At first it was hard to even put in and maintain retention now it’s completely stuck inside.

Echelon grip mod

A little weekend project i thought id share. I have a couple large, aggressive grip modules in black and ODG which fit and grip much better. So I decieded to customize the original black medium grip with some Rapco Field Drab Brown paint and try my hand at stippling to give it more grip. I did one quick practice on a extra backstrap and then went for it. For a first attempt im really happy with how it turned out. Giving the paint the recommended week cure time before assembly but I cant wait to see it all together. No idea how well the paint will hold up but all reviews of the Rapco paint have been great.

Ive seen some awesome custom work on here and figured id give it a try, nowhere near as good as some of the work I've seen but not a bad first shot.

Iron sights can also need to be zeroed

Thought I'd post this bc I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me.

I've had the most difficult time zeroing a new RDS for my Echelon 4.5f. It started with a defective red dot which I was able to return and exchange. I likely wasted 150 rounds before I figured that out. Then, with the new red dot, I found zero to be far to the left of where the iron sights point. The red dot essentially sits off the left corner of the front sight.

That did not sit well with me.

I started a conversation with chatgpt to understand how the red dot can be so off when compared to the iron sights. Its first theory? The iron sights might be off.

So I checked and I found that indeed they were. The front iron sight on my gun is exactly 1mm closer to the right edge of the slide than the left. I was really surprised to find this.

My lesson? Trust the zero you establish on the range.
