What do you genuinely believe happened with Chucky behind the scenes?

I’m really curious what people think actually happened behind the scenes.

He was brought in as the club’s first big-name DP and was supposed to be the face of the franchise. Then, after only one season, things went south and the club decided to move on.

What’s your genuine theory? Did things actually get physical between Chucky and Varas during that locker-room altercation? Or is the whole “he’s a diva” explanation really all there is to it?

I’d especially love to hear what people around the club have heard, so if you got any inside info then feel free to share!

Should U.S. Soccer create an endowment?

Batson recently said his phone is still getting calls and messages from notable people who want to help after the USMNT’s World Cup run.

That got me thinking: why not use some of that momentum to create a permanent U.S. Soccer endowment?

The idea would be to build it through donations, World Cup revenue, and sponsorships. Keep the money invested and use the returns to help pay for youth fees, coaching, fields, equipment, and soccer in underserved communities.

The goal would be to reduce the pay-to-play burden and give more kids a chance to play without their families spending thousands of dollars a year.

It would also create a long-term source of funding instead of relying on short-term programs and grants.

Would an endowment actually make a difference, or would the money just get absorbed into the existing system?

Was dropping Paddy McNair SDFC's second-biggest mistake, right after fumbling Iloski?

The backline has been a liability all season. McVey is basically Casper the Friendly Ghost, and even Duah has looked well below his best. On top of that, we keep insisting on playing out from the back despite repeatedly giving the ball away in dangerous areas. It's the same mistakes week after week, and opponents keep making us pay.

At what point do we start asking if dropping Paddy McNair was the right call? Since then, the defense has gone downhill…with no signs of improving.

This team feels like it needs a complete reset.

Should SDFC fans worry about becoming a mid-table club in MLS 3.0?

With MLS entering the MLS 3.0 era, should SDFC fans worry that the club could become too focused on the Right to Dream model…developing young players, selling them, and repeating the cycle without truly competing for trophies?

One of MLS’s biggest advantages has always been its competitive balance. But if larger clubs begin spending more aggressively and keeping their top talent, could smaller-market teams like SDFC find it harder to stay competitive?

Developing future stars is exciting, but fans don’t just want to be a talent factory. They want playoff runs. They want trophies. They want a club that competes every season.

What do you think?

Rewatching Mexico’s 7–0 loss to Chile, Layún’s lack of effort on the 6th goal is hard to defend.

The game was already a disaster, but watching him barely fight for the ball is frustrating. The entire team collapsed, but that moment really stood out.

As a professional soccer player, how do you not give everything you have in a moment like that? Even when the game is lost…pride, effort, and intensity should still be there.

What initiatives or investments make you optimistic about the future of U.S. Soccer?

Trying to stay optimistic after our disappointing World Cup exit, what initiatives, investments, or changes happening now give you confidence in the long-term future of U.S. Soccer?

Our system still has many problems. We need better scouting, more chances for talented kids, and more trust in young players, among other things.

But it feels like we’re building a better foundation. We have free MLS academies, MLS NEXT Pro, more scholarships, better incentives for clubs to develop players, a new national training center, and a somewhat clearer path from academy to the first team.

Are there any recent investments or initiatives that don’t get enough attention but could make a big difference? Should we be optimistic about the future of U.S. Soccer? What changes happening now do you think will have the biggest impact on U.S. Soccer over the next 10–15 years?

What do you know about SDFC's Girls Right to Dream project? What's their long-term goal?

SDFC is set to launch a fully funded girls academy through RTD…apparently the only one backed by an MLS club. This feels like a pretty significant investment in the future of soccer in San Diego.

But what’s the bigger vision?

If SDFC builds a successful long-term talent pipeline, what’s the end goal?

Do they eventually partner with Wave to create a pathway to professional soccer? Or is the plan something different?

Curious what others know about the project and where they see it going.

Is USL Division 1 (with promotion/relegation) actually going to happen?

The current plan is for USL Premier to launch in 2028 as the top tier of a three-division USL pyramid with promotion and relegation between Premier, Championship, and League One.

Do you think this is genuinely going to happen or is it more of a long-term vision that may never fully materialize?

I'd love to hear from people who follow USL closely or have insight into the business side of American soccer. Do you think this is the beginning of a true pyramid, or are you skeptical?

How many of you have canceled your season tickets or are thinking about it?

40 days of an amazing World Cup and then coming back to SDFC is brutal. This team keeps finding unbelievable ways to lose.

There’s no way this team is winning new fans playing like they did yesterday. People who got into soccer because of the World Cup and watched that game probably walked away disappointed.

How is everyone feeling about their memberships?

Hahahahaha

This might be one of the worst SDFC performances we’ve ever seen. The team had six weeks to prepare, yet they looked exhausted, disorganized, and unable to complete even the simplest passes. The lack of intensity and execution was completely unacceptable.

For the first time, I’m seriously starting to question whether Varas and Heaps are the right people to lead this team.

What do you really expect from the new Padres ownership?

With the new ownership group closing the deal and coming to town, what are your true expectations?

What are your on-the-field and off-the-field expectations? Do you think ticket prices, parking, merchandise, and everything else are going to go up a lot, or do you think it won't make much of a difference?

I just don't want to get priced out as a fan.

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Do you think we'll ever see Duah play in his natural midfield role?

If I remember correctly, the only time Duah played in midfield was against Dallas last year, and his mistake led to a goal. Since then, I don't think we've seen him play there again.

I'm curious to see him get a genuine run in his natural position. Do you think he'll stay at center-back permanently, or could we eventually see him back in midfield?

What are your genuine thoughts on Right to Dream (SDFC’s version), and what do you realistically expect from it?

Watching Spain v France got me thinking about their youth development systems. Academies like La Masia and Clairefontaine have played a huge role in developing players and creating a football identity.

Right to Dream focuses on helping talented young players, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, develop as both footballers and students.

Do you think RTD is the real deal? And do you see SDFC’s version of it becoming a defining institution in American soccer…something comparable to what La Masia represents for Spain or Clairefontaine represents for France?

I’m not expecting the next Xavi or Mbappé, but could it become the place where the country’s top young players are developed and where a legit football philosophy is created?
