Miami SG to protest perceived "lack of respect" from their own squad

Miami's supporters group Vice City has apparently "demanded" that the players start acknowledging them on the pitch during games.

They didn't hear back and so they threatened to not bring flags and a band.

In their own words...

>This time, we are going to be that child who will not stop crying until he gets what he wants... Respect. Recognition. Appreciation.

I'm not even really sure what to say? Wild to see this written out like it's in someone's journal.

Here's the full text:

>Good morning, dear family:

>As everyone knows, and as we’ve been informing you, the players were given until the match against Orlando as the deadline to step up, acknowledge, and greet their people: you… the ones who bust your ass week after week to make every match a true celebration

>Because this doesn’t start when the whistle blows... This starts before the match even begins with the setup, the preparation, Ops, the flags, the organization… and especially with a band that gives its soul, playing for more than 2 hours every single game to push the players nonstop.

>What we’ve received so far is not just a lack of appreciation.

>It is, directly, an absolute lack of respect toward all of us.

>It cannot be that every time there’s a goal, they don’t even look at their people.

>They celebrate among themselves, locked inside their own world, as if they were playing inside a glass cube.

>Not a glance, not a gesture, not a single sign of recognition for the supporters who give their voice, their time, and their hearts for these colors.

>That is why, after discussing it with the other groups as well, a firm decision has been made...

>This Sunday the 17th against Portland, no flags will enter, and the band will not enter with instruments either. If they want tourists watching them play, that is exactly what they’re going to get.

>We know this information has finally reached part of the coaching staff and sporting directors, who have now made the effort to contact us to meet before the match and try to return things to normal.

>But we were also clear...

>Unfortunately, it is already too late to take a step back. There is too much pain, too much frustration, and too much time spent carrying things others do not carry to pretend this can all be fixed overnight just because they are only now learning about our actions.

>Covering up the club’s mistakes with last-minute emergency solutions because “the heat is on”…

>WITH US, THAT NO LONGER WORKS.

>Either they start being proactive about the things we propose... (which, for the most part, are meant to improve the spectacle, strengthen the culture, and help the club grow) or they will continue reacting only when the problem explodes.

>Because this unity, without real respect, will eventually break.

>We are tired of always being the responsible adults who understand, wait, and justify.

>This time, “NO.”

>This time, we are going to be that child who will not stop crying until he gets what he wants...

>Respect. Recognition. Appreciation.

>Because we are not asking for privileges. We are demanding the bare minimum that the best, most loyal, and most creative supporters in all of MLS deserve. (The ones everyone copies.)

>Thank you for understanding, for standing firm, and for continuing to prove that the true strength of this club has always been its people. VC”

SDFC Strategic Timeframe

SDFC is clearly focused on developing young players and leaning on analytics.

What are your genuine thoughts on RTD? How many years do you think it will take for this strategy to consistently payoff? Do you realistically expect a championship anytime soon?

Or do you think RTD is overrated and might not really know what they’re doing?

People often compare SDFC to the Tampa Bay Rays.

***This post is intended to provoke thoughtful discussion, not to pass judgment upon the season***

Colorado match on 7/22 - SDFC supporters?

I’m cheering on the Chrome y Azul at this match and wondered where the other SDFC supporters are going to be?

I went to an away game last year in STL and none of the SDFC supporters were in the stadium’s “official” supporter section seats (sec 136 in Colorado) - I don’t want to be the only one up there in a blue shirt!

Starting Midfield

Once Jeppe is back, I’d rather have Soma and Vasquez start with him. I’m ok leaving Godoy on the bench until we need his energy/leadership in the last 20ish minutes. Let’s be honest, these young guns have the energy and the stamina to really go at the defense. Do that for 70 minutes and then make way for the older guys to take over.

The banned chant

I have season tickets in 117....there were a group of guys trying really hard to get the puto chant going. They sadly got some people around them to join in....but the police came pretty quick to remove them from the game. Glad to see them take action. Not sure why it has to persist. Made the already rough game that much worse.

Heard some boos. What do y'all think?

Finally! Something has to change. It's a slap in the face for the fans that go to every game. I noticed some through balls, which I really like. They hardly pass when the wingers make the run. It's like they are scared. Heard some boos after the game and during de final thunder clap. Good for the fans. They are there every game supporting, they have a right to boo. Or what do y'all think?

You know what? I'm glad this happened

Am I happy we gave away a win in *literally* the last second of the game? Of course not.

But I teach at one of the universities in town and this is what we call a "teachable moment." This game should have been 6-2... But we squandered opportunities left and right and THEN decided the game was won when the final whistle had not sounded.

The team is young. And talented, but maybe a little dumb. It's still early in the season... And winning a supporters' shield probably wasn't going to happen, but a deep playoff run still might. I hope every player on the team has trouble sleeping tonight and decides they're not going to leave it up to the officials to win the game... That they will finish it themselves.

Fuck it. LFGSDFC.

Soma is the next young star

A good positive from a rather unfavorable result. Soma is starting to turn into that next dynamic young player that is starting to embrace his role in the team much like Duah and Bombino. He is really getting the feel of the SDFC style of play.

You can tell why Xavi Hernandez recruited him as a youth to La Masia. He provided much needed passes in the half spaces to our attackers leaving the defense on their heels. To me, those passes looked like Cesc Fabregas tonight.

Dude has serious potential. If Soma can keep the trajectory, his deep playmaking impact will rack up many assists post-WC and into the playoffs.

Dropping Points From Winning Positions

We have now dropped 11 league points conceding goals after the 80th minute in matches. We have dropped 7 points from conceding AFTER the 90th minute. Glaring issue that could be attributed to mental lapses/mentality or stamina/fitness. Either way, right now it's the difference between being a home seed or potentially missing the playoffs (+11 points puts us 3rd in the west, +7 would also see us in 3rd place).

I’m not worried, and actually glad a lot of our guys are sitting for the World Cup. But we gotta make a change

Tonight's bobblehead

If anyone going to the game tonight has little interest in keeping their Dreyer bobblehead, I'd love to get my hands on one!

Godoy

I don't know about you guys but I was excited seeing Godoy on the bench yesterday despite him being my favorite player as I knew he would be brought out to close it out. Something we clearly need and with the ideal player to do it. The guy takes losing possession personally and is an absolute beast out there.

If this becomes the strategy moving forward I would love if we had a chant for him when he was brought on each game. The guy deserves it. What do you think?

Bobble head giveaway

I haven’t been to snapdragon since the opening match this year, planning to go tomorrow for the limited bobblehead giveaway. Realistically how early should I be there to secure one? I know it’s for the first 20,000 fans.
