Tire inflator accessory clips
I'm not here to rant about the chuck. Love it or hate it, Ridgid obviously redesigned it on the new model, and I'm guessing they got tired of replacing them under warranty.
What I am here to talk about are the accessory clips.
On the first handheld inflator I bought, the box was pretty beat up and the clip that holds the accessories was already broken. I figured the tool must have been dropped during shipping and didn't think much of it. I ended up exchanging that unit anyway because the motor actually started smoking.
The replacement? The very first time I removed the accessories, the clip snapped off. At that point I thought, "Alright... that's ridiculous." I'd owned the tool for maybe five minutes.
It's not a huge functional issue, but once the clip breaks, the accessories don't stay secured to the housing very well and I guess I just don't like having my brand new tool be broken. Either way I eventually sold that handheld inflator.
Now I have the new full-size dual inflator on the way, and I assumed Ridgid would have fixed the problem. Then I watched this review: https://youtu.be/MPN3atkVRlE?t=81
At around 1:21, you can actually see the accessory clip hanging off after it breaks when he puts it back on. The reviewer doesn't even mention it and just keeps going.
To me, this seems like an obvious design flaw.
Could anyone who owns either inflator check their accessory clips? Have yours broken, or do they already have those little white stress/fatigue marks that make them look like they're about to snap?
The craziest part is that I've gone through what feels like over 1,000 Home Depot reviews and haven't found a single person mentioning this. Ridgid has to know this is happening... unless I somehow have unbelievably bad luck.
