Locating 1908 Prussian Name Change File: Nędza to Dura (Beuthen / Oppeln)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for the official case file of a 1908 Prussian name change (Namensänderung) from Nędza to Dura in Beuthen O/S (Bytom).

A 1903 birth record marginal note (entry No. 374) cites a decree from the Königlicher Regierungspräsident zu Oppeln dated May 29, 1908 (ref. I a. VI 2281).

I already requested the file from AP Opole, but the search returned negative.

Questions:

  • Where else could this file or duplicate exist (e.g., AP Katowice, Magistrat Beuthen, local Amtsgericht)?
  • What specific records could reveal where the family actually got the surname "Dura" from (e.g., parish records, tax rolls, land registries)?
  • Was this published in the Amtsblatt Oppeln, and is it accessible online?

Thanks for any advice!

1812 Record from Bytom – Need transcription & info (¿Hussar regiment?)

hi everyone :)

i need transcription and translation of this 1812 record from Bytom for my ancestor Johann Tytko.. i don't speak German, but i vaguely spot words like "Husaren" and "Regimente". Could someone explain what specific hussar unit is mentioned, share any historical context about them in Silesia, and let me know if any military records or muster rolls (Stammrollen) survived from this regiment?

thanks!

Quick help needed: Baptism for Franciszek Nędza alias Dura (Poznań area, 1836-1837)

Hi everyone, I’m stuck trying to find the baptism record of an ancestor and could use some advice on where to look next. Here are the facts from his 1865 marriage record in Św. Marcin, Poznań:

Name: Franciszek Nędza (also recorded as Franciscus Nędza alias Dura).

Birth Year: Born around 1836 or 1837 (calculated from his marriage record, where he is listed as 28 years old in November 1865).

Parents: None are listed in the marriage record. Only his godparents/witnesses are named, and my quick research shows they have no family connection to him.

Wife: Katarzyna Czerwińska.

Occupation: Murarius (bricklayer/mason).

What I have already done:

Geneteka: Checked thoroughly. He is not indexed under either surname, and I manually verified every "Franz" entry under Dura/Nędza with no luck.

Parish Scan: My brother and I manually checked every single page looking for births for the years 1835–1842 in the main Poznań city parishes: Święty Wojciech, Święty Marcin, Fara, and Św. Jan Jerozolimski (Komandoria). Nothing...

The Question:

The lack of parents and the "alias" strongly suggests an illegitimate birth or a unique naming situation. Since he isn't in Poznań's urban core, he was likely born in a surrounding rural village and moved to the city later for work.

Which nearby rural parishes (like Głuszyna, Spławie, etc.) or archives should I target next for 1836-1837? Any insights into the "alias" naming convention and missing parents in Wielkopolska would also be amazing. Thanks!
