this is the maroon version of my other flag for the Washington D.C contest, titled "The Three Horizons", with some architectural changes.

mods, feel free to include either the blue version or the maroon version, or include BOTH versions in the contest!

i have not participated in the contests for a long time, I know. well, you guys, I'M BACK, and I have whipped up a new Washington D.C flag proposal! (The Three Horizons)

the symbolism of this flag is very simple.

the blue field in the first flag represents not only the Potomac bluestone, which is the official ROCK of the city, but it also represents trust and loyalty (in general). why did I choose the rock to represent Washington D.C? well, that's because this type of rock was used in order to build the sturdy foundations of iconic landmarks in the city, such as the White House and the Washington Monument. white represents the color of the White House (obviously), and it also symbolizes the purity and honor of the government (well, the administration says they're trying to purify the country, but with the current status of the government, uh....... you get the deal).

the 3 stripes on the flag allude to the 3 stars on the current Washington D.C flag, giving my redesign and the current flag some type of relation to each other. the 3 stripes also represent the fact that Washington D.C, since it is the capital, it is the home of the 3 branches of government (Judicial, Executive, and Legislative).

the main charge on the flag is the sunflower. in floral language, sunflowers typically symbolize hope and progress, which are two of the main values that are celebrated in Washington D.C. the fact it is the main charge also conveys unity, as Washington D.C is the main capital that has tightly united every American. the outer layer of the sunflower has a total of 10 points, referencing the original boundaries of the capital. in 1791, the federal district, when mapped, was a geometrically perfect diamond shape extending to 10 miles on each side. the second white layer, although it has 10 points, has an inner radius of 8, symbolizing the amount of wards that Washington D.C is divided into.

yeah, very simple, very straightforward. what do you guys think about my flag? is it a glow up, or is it a glow down? all criticism is accepted!

i felt bad that Hagatna, Guam, only had 1 submission for its contest, so I decided to make a simple flag redesign for the capital! "The Sunflower of The Latti"

uh, I did not plan to have any symbolism, but what do you guys think about the flag, purely based on the design?

do you like overreacting to life's most microscopic inconveniences? well, I've created a subreddit that I think is the PERFECT place for you!

flag design of Tiksi! "Flower of the Silent River"

now, guys, what do you think about my flag, purely based on the design? as always, all criticism is accepted!

fun fact: my flag design of TIksi is actually categorized under public domain: you are free to share, remix, distribute, and even use the flag for commercial purposes, and you don't even have to give attribution if you want!

is it just me, or can I not MAKE polls?

a few days ago, someone said that they could not vote on polls, and many users said that they also couldn't. however, I could vote on polls as normal, but I wasn't TRULY out of the technical difficulties.

i've been trying to make a poll here (using expanded-polls), but I cannot. it shows me "Something went wrong" every time. i tried refreshing the website multiple times. i disconnected the Wi-Fi. i even cleared my search history by shutting down my computer. it still does not work.

so, I'm making a post here to ask if anyone here is experiencing the same exact situation I am having, or if its just me and my computer just absolutely sucks.

flag design for Rockall! "The Hopeful Reflection"

the symbolism is very simple, as there is little information for Rockall:

the light blue is the sky, the dark blue is the ocean, and both of them directly border the uninhabited rock.

the navy triangle is the actual rock, and the upside-down light triangle is the reflection of the rock from under the water.

centered inside the navy blue triangle is a white, eight-pointed star, symbolizing hope and guidance. the color white alludes to the bird droppings that blanket much of the top face of the rock.

and that's the design and symbolism! what do you guys think about the flag? of course, all criticism is appreciated!

flag redesign for Minnesota! "The Twilight Foundation"

yes, I know that Minnesota redesigned its flag in 2024, but I believe that simplifying the star and removing the green and white from the original tricolor made the flag lose a bit of its soul, so I decided to create a redesign!

what do you guys think of the flag? as always, all criticism is accepted!

introducing you all to r/laptevsea!

hello, everyone!

today, I created the subreddit r/laptevsea, a small space to discuss, share, and explore everything the Laptev Sea has to offer, and fun fact: the sea is bordered by Siberia, the Severnaya Zemlya islands, and the New Siberian Islands, or in NON-NERD terms: it's located in Russia.

if you are into niche geography, polar exploration history, Arctic ice glaciers, or learning about regional wildlife like the Laptev walrus, (or you're just curious about the Laptev Sea) then this is the perfect space for you!

we even have an official subreddit flag that acts as the profile picture of the subreddit! it features a unique square design with a stylized 8-pointed ice star/compass rose over a deep navy blue stripe that extends from bottom left to top right (or bend sinister, for the vexillology nerds!)

in r/laptevsea, we offer many things, such as:

arctic exploration – rabbit holes into historic and CERTAINLY interesting polar journeys

icebreaker watch – watching the massive ships that navigate across the Laptev Sea (uh, we don't have this yet, I need to learn how to upload a live stream to a subreddit)

megafauna – sharing everything from polar bear sightings to digs in the Arctic permafrost

If you love the Arctic maps, niche knowledge, or just want to chill in a place that's not an echo chamber, come join the crew (technically, it's only one person) at r/laptevsea!

flag design for the Laptev Sea! ("Compass of the Silent Arctic"

the white represents the extent of the pack ice covers that blanket the sea. it also represents Laptev's location in the Arctic Sea.

the blue is very obvious, as it just labels Laptev as a globally recognized sea. its dark hue alludes to the extreme polar darkness that the sea experiences.

the three bands (a dominant band and two smaller bands) symbolize the three auks (thick-billed murre, dovekie, and guillemot) that comprise the main population of the sea's breeding colonies.

the bands are hoisted bend sinister (extended from the bottom left to the top right), symbolizing the increasing knowledge that researchers are getting from the Laptev Sea, effectively conveying progress.

the central symbol is a hybrid between a snowflake and a compass, where the snowflakes highlight the growing concern of the faster melting of sea ice, and the compass symbolizes guidance and resilience, as the compass is actually notoriously poor in the Laptev Sea. however, with enough courage and strength, the explorers can actually prevail and have a successful outcome in their exploration.

now, what do you guys think about the flag? all criticism is accepted!

also, I've posted the flag in r/laptevsea, so if you want to see the version with brighter colors, go check that out!

i got bored and decided to do a little bingo: Anti-AI Bingo: Remastered!

this bingo is obviously free to use. every time you see an Anti fitting one of these characteristics, go ahead and fill in that character square.

of course, I will gladly accept stuff I should add in case I'm bored again and want to do a 6-by-6 bingo, maybe even a 7-by-7 bingo!

i will always also accept requests. did you want me to place "a brigader" as a free space? should I have combined "encourages violence" and "sends death threats and insults to Pros" as one singular square? drop your requests in the comments below!

(also, ignore the "Preview" message in the top left corner, as I made this on bingobaker.com )

my flag redesign for Oregon City, Oregon: Flower of the Terracotta Trail!

now, let's put the symbolism aside (I will be working on that LATER). just looking at the design, what do you think about this flag?

of course, constructive criticism is very welcome!
