And it totally tracks. Deep down he is a pathetic lonely person. Without his powers that side of him is amplified. He’s never known a day where he was that weak and didn’t have the abilities he’s had his whole life. Just try to imagine the level of panic he was experiencing. To feel that kind of pain from Butchers punches, to have his punch blocked so easily, to not be able to just fly out of the room…must have blown his freaking mind.

Edit: also let’s not forget he JUST got the V1 and thought he’d live forever. He was absolutely not expecting Kimiko to walk in with Solder Boy powers and for Butcher to be put in a position to end his life. Especially since he killed Frenchie who was their last hope of achieving the chest blast.
