Rules are simple: Pick two characters---one video game character and one non-video game character---and whichever ones get the most votes will be added to the roster.
Before he was Roy--- he was David, an orphaned boy who was taken in by a kindly older woman-- that, of course, being Lesley-- she loved him more than anything in the world. However, things would sadly not end well for them.
One day, Lesley moved to a new town called Mullhoven, and David joined her. Not long after their arrival, David recieved a present from one of their new neighbors-- a small bird. The bird flew out of it's box, and David chased after it--- right into the road, where, despite Lesley's best efforts, David was struck by a car.
David survived, but was left horifically scared. Believing Lesley would be afraid of him if he tried to return to her in the state he was now in, he ended up living on the streets, known to most now as "Michael". He was constantly shunned by the townspeople, who called him an ugly, weak freak. So eventually, he fled the town and lived on his own underground. He had to feed off of stolen goods, which led to him being considered a wanted criminal. Lesley, having heard about it, provided them with a picture of David prior to the accident. This explains the wanted poster of Yellow Guy in DHMIS 2--- it's actually a picture of a younger Roy/David/Michael.
Eventually, David/Michael grew up, changed his name to Roy, and tried to live a normal life. Eventually having a son who he attempted to keep safe so that he wouldn't have to go through what he went through as a child. However, Roy's son eventually met two people--- Red Guy and Duck--- who convinced him that his father was a total loon and showed him the beauty of the outside world.
Roy, believing his son's friends had turned him arrogant and rude, kidnapped the three of them with the help from the "Money Man" from the HELP videos. During their capture, he forced them to learn lessons from sentient objects whose lessons were rigged in Roy's favor. Eventually, though, Red Guy managed to free himself and his friends by pulling the plug on Roy's "media machine", allowing them to flee to a new home, where--- ironically--- they would be given shelter by Lesley. Whilst still learning somewhat-unsettling lessons, most of them weren't rigged in the same way Roy's were. Roy, however, ever-persistent, continues to try and get the three of them back from Lesley's hands--- unaware that the very person who gave him shelter as a boy is the one giving his son and his friends shelter.
