Yet another Smash 6 Wishlist on Smash Sunday
I love cutting characters. I love not including Waluigi. I love not choosing unreasonable wishlist characters. I will happily elaborate if anyone wants to discuss my choices.
The Community Rewrites the Smash Roster (Season 1, Episode 1)

Super Smash Bros. Mania Roster - (Updated)
Smash 64 Doubled Rosters
Super Smash Bros. is a 1999 game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It is the first game in the Super Smash Bros. series and was first released in Japan on January 21, 1999. The game featured an all-star lineup of 12 of Nintendo’s characters, defining a whole series of future installments to come.
But what if had released with 24 characters instead of 12? A perfect doubled dozen of Nintendo’s finest characters in sorta “what-if?” roster.
Today, I bring you my doubled Super Smash Bros. 64 roster. I’ve spent quite a bit of time researching various official and fan sources, topics, and discussions to come to my final decisions. Overall, I think I’ve made a pretty solid roster, but that’s for all of you to decide.
The only rules I’ve set are really basic ;
- No characters created after 1998.
- No Third Party Characters.
(I kinda broke the last rule with a certain character but also kinda not?)
The Characters :
Bowser, King Dedede, Mewtwo, Ganondorf
Into the first batch of characters, we have 4 of Nintendo’s villains for their biggest franchises. Bowser, Dedede, and Mewtwo were all originally planned to be apart of the original 64 roster, and along with Ganondorf, were some of the most popular picks for the offfical Smash 2 Poll. All have also appeared in the following two Smash Bros. rosters.
Peach, Diddy Kong, Zelda, Falco
Next up, we have the most deserving supporting characters (considering the amount spots we have) for the roster. Each of these characters had a couple of votes in the Smash 2 Poll and seem like the most realistic picks alongside the first batch.
Marth, Pit, Little Mac, Banjo & Kazooie
And for the final group of newcomers, we have characters from series not represented with playable fighters on the original roster. Marth was the fourth of the four originally planned characters for Smash 64’s roster. Pit and Little Mac are two classic Nintendo characters that just feel like the most necessary inclusions to help flesh out the crossover aspect for this supposed doubled first entry. Finally, Banjo & Kazooie; the only character I had trouble really deciding if I want them on the roster due to being third party. But alas, they were technically second party during the time of Smash 64’s release, so they can fit right in with the rest of the roster as the first (currently) third party.
That’s all I’ve got for the first part of my reworked Doubled Roster series, where I take each Super Smash Bros. roster and double the amount of characters, taking from the last roster I had and building a what-if sorta series. I was extremely dissatisfied with a lot of decisions I made in my series from nearly a year ago, causing me to never finish the series after my WiiU/3DS roster. But since it’s been in the back of my mind since, I’ve decided to remake it. Be on the lookout for my Melee roster next.
My Smash 6 Wish Roster: 101 Fighters, excluding echoes
Need more Women in Smash as well as more variety in fighter body shapes / more non human fighters.
Long explanation incoming
I didn’t cut any characters because I wanted to abide by the ‘Everyone is Here!’ format. If we just brought everyone back, why get rid of any of them? The new fighters I’m adding are in the bottom two rows, after and including the Mii Fighters.
I made a small mistake in formatting my character select screen; forgot that Pyra and Mythra were counted as two separate ‘numbers’ within one space, and had done the roster math for them being seperately numbered resulting in an extra space; so I just pulled them apart from each other, just like the Kanto pokemon.
In Smash Brawl, two 3rd-party characters were added; and then two in Sm4sh base game; three for DLC; one in Ultimate base; then a whopping EIGHT 3rd party reps in Ults DLC. This brings us to 16 3rd-parties. With a roster of just over 100, I can’t justify the 3rd-party count to exceed much greater than 20% of the roster. Thus, I had to decide on only 5 new third party reps maximum, to have 80% Nintendo IP representatives.
Now, for some rundown on the new fighter choices. Coming off of 82 fighters from Ultimate, I felt like 100 or 101 would be an appropriate cap, allowing 19 newcomers. If my math is correct, Brawl, Sm4sh, and Ultimate all added around 18 or 19 newcomers as well, making this a seemingly consistent number of additions.
Mii Mage and Mii Sports
Miitopia and Tomodachi LTD; Wii Sports Resort / Club and Nintendo Switch Sports. Unlimited fighter choices with Mii Costume Characters. Mage specials inspired from Zelda, Robin, Sora, or status moves like sleep and poison; Basic attacks with Staff, Palu’s Nair but weaker, AOE spells.
Sports specials and smash attacks basically what you can expect, pulling from peach (golf and tennis), ness (home run), slightly villager (bowling), duck hunt (frisbee), jetpack for up B, sportsmate as an alt.
Spyro
I understand PlayStation is protective with it’s IPs. However, Spyro is owned by Microsoft now. I would like more non-human-like fighters for some variety. Spyro is a great personality and would unite the big 3 console companies as another gaming icon. Also I blame Nintendo for the decline of Spyro because of Skylanders. If you’ve played Spyro his moveset is what you’d expect, horn-bash, switching between elemental dragon powers, and ranged projectiles. maybe Sparx is there too.
Chibi-Robo
Iconic. I need my little guy in there. Nintendo also killed his series with Zip-Lash; None of that. Plug Into Adventure, Clean Sweep, Park Patrol, maybe a little Photo Finder; Blaster, Helicopter, Reaction Signs popping out of his head, Plug Combat, Toothbrush and Spoon. Space Hunter Drake Redcrest Alt and theme song.
Layton
3rd party, DS legacy pick, six games back to back, and a new mainline Layton game on the horizon. He does indeed throw hands, sword fight, and invents tools for combat and traversal on the fly (thinking of the coin machine gun and improv glider from Unwound Future). So I’m thinking he would partly use tools and machines, and the rest of his set would be puzzle related attacks; magnifying glass to search for hint coins, sliding block, and ‘puzzle solved’ revelations with hitboxes kind of like Ace Attorney objection style.
Cooking Mama
Also a 3rd party DS rep. Mama has extended her reigns onto the Wii, 3DS, and PlayStation. Her attacks could have varying range and damage depending on the consecutive timing of your inputs, just like when trying to make a dish. Like hold inputs, or like how Bayo and Sora have more ‘chain combos’ than just in their Jabs, multiple of Mama’s basic attacks could be extended to yield better dishes. She also does some gardening in her free time.
Samurai Goroh
I just couldn’t let F-Zero be the only series from Smash 64 without additional representation, It didn’t seem right. Capt. Falcon already has an originally fabricated moveset, so I argue Goroh has a little more going for him with the Sumo Samurai Schtick. Haven’t played any F-Zero or watched the anime, wondering how to balance the speed of F-Zero with him being a mid-heavy. Maybe fast attacks and grapples, one projectile, but low run speed and jump height.
Great Fairy
Recognizable, powerful, unique. Comes out of a flower sometimes. Can turn into a bunch of smaller fairies. OOT, WW, BOTW, and EoW / classic forms. Has plenty of character and animations. Was tied between her and Nabooru as Iron Knuckle, but felt like greater rep of the series rather than more OOT rep was preferable. If I had space for another Zelda rep it would be Iron Knuckle. Plus the west hates Tingle apparently.
Oatchi
Need more dogs in smash. He can rush and chomp, but also carry and command Pikmin! What a cutie. He also has a dark version called ‘Moss’.
That’s the first row of newcomers; I will continue my explanations for the second row in the comments! Please let me know what you think!
Lets say this was the smash 6 roster, what is your reaction?
Old fighters such as mario, link, zelda, samus, dk are completely overhauled

My New (and improved) Dream Smash Roster (136 characters; everyone comes back)
Made another one of these, and this time everyone from Ultimate is back, along with 47 newcomers.
Please feel free to leave your thoughts below!
40 Space Roster that would deeply disappoint me personally
So we gave Isabelle her deserved spot, got rid of Sonic and Tails because it was just bad and would never happen. Added a realistic amount of fire emblem characters. Added way worse 3rd party representation. Replaced Elden Ring/ Fromsoftware representation for a more popular more representative of modern gaming.
The Ultimate Smash Fighter (Round Twenty-Seven)
The votes are in, and by the time this post was put up, both Steve and Terry were voted the highest to be eliminated
Today's round: Comment on a third-party fighter you wish to see eliminated
The fighter with the most comments will be chosen
Smash 6 Roster or whatever, probably could've cut more veterans but I couldn't bring myself to
Newcomers list for those who do not know:
- King Boo (Luigi's Mansion)
- Ashley (Warioware)
- Impa (Zelda)
- Bandana Dee (Kirby)
- Akari/Rei (Pokemon Legends Arceus)
- Missingno (Pokemon)
- Ivy (Fire Emblem Engage)
- Tom Nook (Animal Crossing)
- DJ Octavio (Splatoon)
- Muddy Mole (Mole Mania)
- Karate Joe (Rhythm Heaven)
- Protagonist (Astral Chain)
- Drag x Driver (Drag X Drive)
- Dr. Eggman (Sonic The Hedgehog)
- Metal Sonic (Sonic The Hedgehog) [Echo of Sonic]
- The Hunter (Monster Hunter)
40 Space Roster, that I could live with.
Feel free to ask questions or tell me slots have been wasted or are unrealistic. Interested in trying to make a cut back roster that disappoints the least people. Had this been a wish list there would be Crash Bandicoot getting a slot for sure lol.
*New Characters
Pauline : successor to wii fit trainer and Palutena, big hit box music based projectiles.
Midna: Rides on Wolf Links back for speed, when Wolf Link killed Midna becomes a slow floaty jump character. Brawler archetype
Marx: Gunner archetype with multiple jumps and a teleport recovery
Sonic & Tails: Sonic but with ice climber tether mechanics and a better recovery based on Tails being alive to fly you
Leon: Suplex, blam bam, suplex
Blaidd & Ranni: Probably most akin to Pyra and Mythra swap between a big beefy sword user and a light weight powerful magic user
Doom Guy: Kinda a jack of all trades master of none brawler
2B: Anime Sword user lol, she can be different with weapon switching and using her flying pod assistant
Smash 6 roster people would actually PAY MONEY for
Here is my take on the 6x6 MvCi sized Smash Bros. Reboot roster based on picks people would actually BUY the game for.
- OG SSB64 roster because we are not animals
- Edelgard is the most important fodlan character, Lyn is the #1 popular FE charcter
- Joker cannot even change personas in Ultimate so he is is getting replaced by Aigis because aside of changing personas, she has robot girl things to do
- All belmonts are terribly done, so Alucard replaces both
- Banjo kazooie was both done terribly and not relevant in 2026
- Kyo is gameplaywise more interesting than Terry
Consider Bottom row as DLC
The Ultimate Smash Fighter (Round Twenty-Six)
With nine comments in total, Robin is eliminated
DOUBLE ELIMINATION TIME! Comment on the fighter you want to see eliminated next?
One comment per fighter. The two most voted comments will be chosen
A Pattern DLC Will Not Break
A pattern I see that isn’t often taken into account with smash speculation enough is that the DLC characters have been 16/19 times (Lucas is iffy) anime characters. Anime sword fighter or simply fire emblem reps are memed but not taken too seriously when movesets are different enough. So when guessing new characters, something like picture 3 is unrealistic only because of the style of the characters being chosen. Despite Byleth being guaranteed a spot, a more probable outcome is something like the last pic, with one or two non animes sprinkled in at most.
I really think this pattern has held true enough that it almost a guarantee.
My Updated (Unrealistically Large) Smash Bros. 6 Roster Concept
120 Playable Characters (78 Veterans + 42 Newcomers)
Some of the roster is predictions (Example; Ring Fit Trainee, Crash, and Kris), others are characters I personally want in (Example; Metal Sonic/Knuckles, Kamek, Blinky, and Impostor).
Tried to keep the cuts to a minimum (Mii Sword/Gunner aren't cut and share a slot with Mii Brawler)
A few moveset explanations;
Veterans; Everyone would mostly receive additional touch ups/quality of life changes, however some characters would have noticeable changes. Dr. Mario, Peach, Falco, Link, Dark Samus, Ken, and Richter would all be given substantial changes to differentiate them from their original/clone versions. Other characters would receive major reworks, including some of the formerly mentioned ones, but Ganondorf and Sonic would be remade from the ground up.
Newcomers;
Waluigi would use his tennis racket for certain moves, but his moveset would not entirely rely on spin-off titles like how most fans usually depict him.
Alph; Would use rock Pikmin to differentiate him from Olimar.
Metal Sonic/Shadow; both would have entirely unique movesets. It's actually so crazy how many fan rosters depict one of the two as Echo fighters, when there are literally moveset for fangames/mods where they play nothing like Sonic.
Peppino; (TL;DR Peppino is basically if Wario's moveset was changed to represent Wario Land) the easiest way I can sum Peppino up is how most fan mods change Wario's moveset to Wario Land. I like Wario Land as a series but it unfortunately being on an indefinite hiatus kinda makes it make less sense whenever Wario (in fan games/mods) represent Land instead of Ware, especially since Ware still receives games more consistently.
If we had to narrow the roster down to 60.
Newcomers:
- Pauline.
- Octoling is now an alt of Inkling. She gets 4 costumes and Inkling gets 4.
- Off the Hook (Marina accompanied by Pearl in her drone form).
- Ring Fit Trainee.
- Bandana Waddle Dee.
- Meowscarada.
- Cai (FE Fortune's Weave protagonist).
- Mio.
- Spring Man.
- Mach Rider.
- Isaac
- Ryu Hayabusa.
- Shovel Knight.
- Jonesy.
What If Super Smash Bros Was A Kirby Only Game? Day 50
Yesterday we added Bio Spark
Rules: Character needs to have appeared in at least one Kirby game (both mainline and spin-off games count)
The game when this character first appeared needs to have released before September 13, 2014
Other Nintendo characters can only be picked in Third Party rounds
No dowvoting.
Who should replace Villager?
