Exclusive Supply Voltage Selector Concept Review

Hi everyone,

I'm currently scribbling around for a new project and I ran into an issue.

I have 2 voltage supplies as input, where both could be at a different voltage levels. Hence I (to my understanding) I should protect the two sources from each other. Additionally, depending on the voltage level I may need to first put it through a DC-DC converter.

I've come up with the below concept to said things.I used PMOS as high side switches and added a second one to protect against reverse current. To be sure that I don't short anything by accident, I added a small logic such that only one path could be active.

I'm currently not sure whether this concept will work or if there is a better approach to achieve my issue. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Quick rant about selecting MCUs

Hi,

I hope this violates any rules of this subreddit, but I need to blow off some steam. I'm working on a new hobby project where I need some quite specific peripheral combinations available in one MCU. I'm fed searching through microcontroller datasheets to look up pin mappings, derive the package naming and hoping that is an actual scheme that exists.

Is there a good site where I can filter efficiently through peripherals and there combination. As an example when checking digikey you can search whether I2C is included, but now how many I2C busses. Or when checking a MCU family on STMicro I need to filter through pages of pin mappings to check whether it actually exists what I'm searching for.

In my case I need an MCU which has an USB interface an for my special use case 2 USB PD Controllers. For the sake of this discussion, this is too specific, the question is rather targeted if e.g. I'm searching for an MCU that has 2 I2Cs, 3 SPIs and 2 CAN FDs, how can I easily search whether devices with certain interface combinations and quantities exist.

I'm not sure if I'm just blind or stupid or making my life too complicated?

Edit1: I totally agree with that my demand is quite special. The goal of my post was not fishing that someone else suggests a matching chip, but rather asking for advice where and how I can search whether such a device exists at all. I'm totally fine if no broadband MCU is there to satisfy my project.

Handling Multiboard Projects

Hi,

I started with a new project and wanted to keep it modular. Initially, I created one big schematic and split it into the major blocks I'd like to have.

Unfortunately, there is no integrated function that I could use for having separate PCBs for the individual modules. There is a plugin (I forgot it's name) which as far I can understand, would let you split the design into multiple exports, but you need to keep a lot of elements separate, e.g. every module needs a separate ground.

I've split it up now into one KiCad project per module. For me it's a little bit annoying keeping track of where each B2B connector goes and what signals it carries. One of my major concerns is keeping track of pin assignments and aligning the connectors to each other

So how do you handle projects which require more then one PCB?

Teigprobe geht nicht auf

Hi,

Ich hab über den bread code mit Sauerteig angefangen. Er empfiehlt immer eine Teigprobe zu entnehmen, diese in ein separates Glas zu geben um zu verfolgen wie sich das Volumen ändert.

(Wenn ich nicht vergesse) Entnehme ich immer eine Teigprobe, jedoch ist das bei mir eher so eine vielleicht 50% Chance dass sich die Teigprobe wirklich vergrößert. Ich sehe aber am eigentlichen Brotteig, dass dieser aufgeht. Stockgare mache ich sehr nach Gefühl und habe prinzipiell gute Ergebnisse, aber das mit der Teigprobe verstehe ich einfach nicht.

Ich kneten meinen Teig, laminiere ihn ein bis mehrfach je nach dem und dann stich ich etwas ab und gebe die Probe in ein kleines Schraubglas.

Hat wer eine Ahnung was ich da genau falsch mache oder was sonst der Grund sein könnte warum die Probe nicht wirklich aufgeht.

Ich verwende das gleiche Schraubglas um meinen Starter zu füttern, da ist das kein Problem.
