Got "Your payment can't be completed right now" today...

I was trying to pay someone from my Venmo balance, which has sufficient funds for the payment. I got the message in subject and I have no clue how to fix it. I made several attempts today, all with the same result. I'm verified.

Any ideas?

The back hatch lift supports on my 2018 Dodge Journey stopped working, can I replace them myself or bring them back to life?

If replace, can I read type / model number or some such, and buy online?

Doesn't seem to be too difficult to replace with the right tools - but would there be any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Relocated back to the U.S. - need affordable smart plugs

What are some good Zigbee smart plugs that one can get at an affordable price? I'd use them for lamps, so nothing too heavy duty.

I relocated from Asia and sure I can get from Aliexpress, but I'm considering getting a few locally to get started.

I noticed Third Reality. Anyone knows what the difference is between their Gen2 and Gen3 plugs, they both seem to support Zigbee 3.0?

Thanks!

Montgomery school zones?

EDIT: Solved below!

--------

Hi folks,

We're moving to Montgomery and I'm trying to get an overview of school zones.

Specifically I'm trying to figure out which schools would be available to a given address.

I've looked at the MPS website, but I'm not finding such overview. Also, I gave the Montgomery GIS data a look, but it didn't reveal any such information.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Car lease, 12 months?

Hi folks,

What are the options for a 12-month car lease in Montgomery? Any advantage to taking the lease at a dealership over a rental company?

Thinking sedan or smaller size truck for a family of four.

Thanks!

Where to watch the UK vs Argentina game?

Is there any good family friendly place that is showing today's game? Preferably downtown-ish as we're on Columbus St.

Just about to have dinner, could use a recommendation on something to do after

The kids are out of the house and the missus and I are just about to sit down for dinner at a restaurant in the Phrom Phong area.

We didn’t get around to making a proper plan for the whole evening, so we’ve been considering a massage, a late movie (the hippopotamus horror movie looks fun!) or some cocktail bar after dinner. All good things, but also something we’ve done before in some form.

Could you inspire us for a fun or interesting / quirky place to check out?

Ps. Not a tourist, so I hope I don’t break that rule ;)

Where can I buy these?

Is there an IRL shop in central Bangkok where I can buy these 22oz cups? After waiting for for a long time, my Lazada order got cancelled. So I’m in a bit of a pickle.

Thanks!

Home Assistant and Philips Hue bridge side-by-side?

We're a Home Assistant household with multiple Zigbee devices.

As part of a test, I need to set up a Philips Hue bridge with a single zigbee bulb. This bulb is currently not paired.

Will starting up the Hue bridge and putting it into pairing mode influence my current setup? Just wondering about the risks to my current setup.

Buying a milk tea sealer

I'm curious about getting a milk tea sealer. It's for personal use, so I'm partial to buying one with manual action to keep the price low.

I've seen them on LazMall for 1800-2500 baht (brand: Sande). Automatic ones seem to range between 5-25K baht.

Would any of you have some experience in buying one of these for personal use you can share?

Foreign Service family relocating to Montgomery this summer. Confused on housing/schools, any advice?

Hi folks!

I'm an EFM (I'm from Denmark, American wife) and we've recently received notice of assignment to Maxwell, Montgomery. We expect to arrive mid-July, aiming for housing either on base or in Old Cloverdale.

We are currently abroad (US Foreign Service assignment) and are experiencing some challenges in making this a smooth transfer. We would love some input on how others made a successful move. Our challenges are:

  1. As we only recently received the notice, it seems we missed most if not all of the school deadlines for our 7YO.
  2. Same goes for preschool for our 2YO.
  3. On the other hand, it seems that when we reach out property management we're too early. It seems they're not too keen on committing a vacant apartment to a mid-July arrival, which is of course is annoying from our perspective, but also understandable.

So, it seems we're "too late" but also "too early"! We've done plenty of internet searches, consulted our AI, posted to Facebook groups...

How did others in a similar situation solve this? Please help this Scandinavian understand how to crack the code 😀 Truly, we would be very thankful for any hints or ideas.

Thank you!
