Some people *really* infantilize Jimmy

Davis & Main demonstrated that you could give Jimmy what he wanted and had earned—a place in a law firm as a respected member—and he still wouldn't be able to resist taking shortcuts or breaking the rules.

Jimmy's solicitation in Texas was a violation not only of the code of professional conduct but also of a Texas criminal statute. What is important is that he had no reason to do this.

Nobody forced him; Chuck hadn't gotten on his case. He did this apropos of nothing.

I've seen people actually try to argue that Cliff or Howard could have "appropriately mentored" Jimmy. Which is ridiculous.

He isn't a child. Nobody else had to have their hand held to know that you should follow the rules.

Chuck absolutely sabotaged Jimmy at every step. But Jimmy had escaped and gotten everything he wanted at Davis & Main. He instantly started giving procedure the middle finger.

Uhhh, did anyone else get contacted by their broker to be informed that their Stark Industries stock (SIA) had suddenly just lost 56.5% of it's value? What the hell happened?

I inherited a ton of SIA stock from my dad years ago, and now it's lost more than half its value!?

It's honestly shocked me that Bradley Whitford has never played Senator Barry Goldwater. He even has the grey hair now.

The only reason it bugs me is that in a movie about LBJ, the guy who ran against Goldwater, Bradley Whitford instead played Senator Hubert Humphrey. Who he looks nothing like.

The opportunity was right there.

They got their position unfairly through nepotism, but once given the opportunity, they proved they had real ability

  1. Dr. Robert Chase - His boss House is clear from the start that Chase is there because of his famous father, who called in a favor. However, Chase really is an excellent diagnostician as well as a skilled surgeon.
  2. Pete Cambell - Pete Cambell was hired for his old-money family background and the social connections that come from that. Not only did this get him his position, but it gives him a safety net from screwing up that others do not get. Over time however Cambell proves himself to be a genuinely skilled accounts man.
  3. Howard Hamlin - His father was the eponymous Hamlin of Howard's firm "Hamlin, Hamlin, and McGill." He was privately coached by the firm's other founder, Chuck McGill. Howard demonstrates his value less from his skill as a lawyer, to which he still seems perfectly competent, but more from his managerial and client abilities. Guiding HHM through multiple crises.
  4. Robert F. Kennedy (real life) - Appointed as the US Attorney General by his brother, President John Kennedy, he was selected because JFK felt he needed someone in his cabinet in whom he had absolute trust. RFK had no experience in any state or federal court, and JFK joked about the appointment: "I can't see that it's wrong to give him a little legal experience before he goes out to practice law." Nevertheless, RFK changed the Justice Department into a more aggressive federal instrument against segregation, bringing voting-rights cases, enforcing desegregation in interstate travel, protecting the Freedom Riders, and sending federal marshals to ensure James Meredith could enroll at the University of Mississippi. He also made organized crime and racketeering a major federal priority, coordinating agencies and increasing prosecutions.
