Will forfeiting too many tasks get you kicked off the platform?

I'm a cleaner and I have my own housekeeping business as well.

I make it very clear in my bio I don't organize or declutter and that the house has to be picked up before I arrive. My basic scope is dusting, kitchen/bathroom, vacuum/mop and other deep clean tasks if requested like interior oven, windows etc.

I still get tons of people who book me and say "yes I need you to pick up all my kid's stuff in the living room and bedroom and also do my dishes and also reorganize something or another".

I also get lots of requests from people whose houses are straight up biohazard looking when they request which frankly, I don't deal with. Like hoarder level.

So I forfeit a lot of tasks. But then I saw somewhere cancelling too many tasks can get you booted from the platform. I never cancel tasks, I forfeit before I accept.

I understand that hurts my metrics -- that's fine, I still have my own regular clients.

But am I am risk for being DEACTIVATED for forfeiting too many tasks?

Thank you!

DAE kinda dislike doing apartments

Especially if it's a larger building that has a parking garage someone has to open for you, seven flights to take the elevator up and then the clean often takes a shorter amount of time anyway so it's less money. Or god forbid no elevator and gotta climb up a flight of stairs. And all the spots are reserved so you have to park on the street. Idk, maybe I'm being weak and bitchy but I might stop doing apartments lol

Flat mop recommendations?

Hey y'all, I recently started my own biz after leaving the company I started at.

I prefer a flat mop (not a spin mop) to use and I bought a cheap one from Amazon (sue me) and I broke tf out of it by pressing down too hard scrubbing lol.

Any recommendations for sturdy flat mops that won't break and take a microfiber cloth? Doesn't need to be collapsible

Is this a general announcement or a warning?

Hey guys! I'm a newer tasker. Just got this in my announcements on the app. Do they send these as a general reminder, or did a client complain about one of my invoices?

I can't think of anything someone would complain about except maybe that I invoiced a task starting at 11am when it took me until 11:15am to get into the unit. For more context see my previous post (huge condo complex in downtown major city with a million steps to getting in).

I only ask because I used to do Rover and they would send us "reminders" like this about sharing personal information (always a client sending their phone # in app when that was very much against TOS lol) so I want to make sure -- is this automated or did someone complain?

Thanks!!

Drying showers/sinks??

Hey y'all! To preface I worked for a few years for a very small cleaning company (one owner and two other cleaners including myself) and have recently started my own solo cleaning business.

The way I was trained and the way we cleaned showers was to rinse, scrub with Dawn and rinse sinks/showers.

The thing is we never dried them out after... just left it wet. OCCASIONALLY if it was like a dark tile wall in the shower we would buff it, and then of course obviously drying glass shower doors.

Lately though I've been seeing cleaning videos from other people where they dry all the sinks and tubs with a a microfiber from top to bottom. I'm just curious because we never went that far.... Many times just leaving the tubs/sinks/showers wet?

My question is, is that typical? Is it that big of a deal or should I start drying everything out?? I'm wondering because apparently no one ever had any complaints but I'm wondering if it's not a "perfect" standard? And if I should change my procedure.

Any other tips regarding shower cleaning and how you do it would be welcome as well :) just trying to expand my knowledge beyond that one company!

Thank you

When to start time?

Hello! I'm a new tasker and I do exclusively residential/commercial cleaning.

I have a job coming up that starts at 11:30am and I'm wondering if I include the time it takes to get up to the unit.

Let me explain. Access to the building is downtown in a major city in a large building with an expansive parking garage. The steps are as follows:

  1. Park my car in the loading zone
  2. Take elevator to 12th floor to retrieve key FOB and parking pass
  3. Go back to loading zone, get my car and drive into the parking garage up 4 levels to reserved spot
  4. Grab all my stuff and walk across to elevators and go back up to the unit

I already know this area is massive and crowded so I imagine it'll take me 10-15 minutes to do all of this before I actually start the task.

So, should I include this in the task time? Or just start my time when I actually make it through the door?

I only ask because when I did Rover it was common consensus to include this kind of "set up" in the job time, but I want to know if that's commonplace on this platform as well.

Thank you!

Would Taskrabbit be a good way to kickstart my business?

Hey guys! Let me start off by saying I have been in the industry for several years and recently decided to go off on my own as a solo cleaner.

I have tried Facebook groups, Nextdoor, and posting my flyers around town. Asked friends to let me know if they know anyone who needs a cleaning. Offered discounts for first-time clients. Have had an extremely difficult time finding clients. I won't bother getting into details, I knew when I started this would be hard.

So I'm interested in trying out Taskrabbit to maybe get clients. Has anyone tried this before? Is it reliable, worth it etc.?

I'm aware they take a fee and I'll probably have to be underpaid for a bit but again, it's just to get the ball rolling, exposure, etc.

Thank you.

Places to post flyers/business cards?

THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION! I am humbly asking for advice on locations that I can try to put my boots to the pavement to advertise my new small business.

I only recently learned it's illegal to put signage on telephone poles here (originally from Seattle lol).

I posted some flyers in the local Safeway's and QFC's on their community boards, as well as some dog parks. Library does not have a community bulletin board.

Unfortunately since I moved here not long ago, I don't actually have much of a "word-of-mouth" advantage yet, so I'm trying to go old school while I'm also setting up my social media, website, Google business profile, etc.

Anyone know where any community billboards are, or appropriate places to leave/hand out business cards? Would it be inappropriate to cold-call local spas, exercise studios, etc.? It's for a house-cleaning business if that matters (already so competitive ifykyk).

Also... how much do you guys hate door hangers?
