Telling children about their bio parents
My sisters oldest kid isn’t her husbands biological son. He’s 19 and still doesn’t know.
So today my sister, niece and I were on the way to a bridal shower. I made a comment about how I’ve never been to a bridal shower and my sister responded with you’ve been to mine remember? I replied with Ouh yeah i remember (we have a large age gap) I said “I remember the parents talking about how happy they were meeting”. I meant my parents and my brother in laws parents. And my niece (16) asked from the back seat “you had a baby with dad but never met his parents?” Before I could even answer and clarify what I meant my sister got defensive and said stop talking about it. My niece is smart and often opens up to me. I’m worried she’ll ask me more questions. I can just clarify what i actually met and she may ask why her mom got defensive. And I’ve asked my sister if she’ll even tell my nephew that he had another biological parent in the past and she said never. What do I do if my niece asks me. I don’t want to betray my sister or my niece and nephew.
