Does anyone know how exactly part breaker works?

I saw a speedrunner slot 1 level of part breaker in an AT arkveld run and they were getting a huge amount of staggers and topples compared to not using it. I’m wondering what the math behind it is and how big of a difference there is between levels 1 2 and 3. This is all using a pierce coating bow.

Longsword: when to use Iai counter and when to use foresight slash?

I know damage wise I always try to use ISS. But I noticed a lot of the time I take damage after perfect FSS or ISS, which I assume is just from multi hit moves and maybe moves with lots of hitboxes. I don’t really know.

But now it is too much chip damage, for example if I ISS gore magala’s exploding bite (moves head in short horizontal arc motion) it still does like 30% of my HP. If I FSS it I take no damage though. And for Jin dahaad nuke if I FSS or seikret dismount I get hit for 80% of my hp, but ISS it is no damage.

So I’m just curious how exactly these moves work and if there are any other ones specifically I should watch out for.

Bunch of random questions from new player

I have looked all of these up and searched but cannot find a concrete answer so I’m sorry.

  1. What are target rewards from quests? For example if I have the lucky meal skill (from ysai meal) it says it sometimes gives you extra target rewards. The only place I’ve seen target rewards is when looking at monster parts, and sometimes they are labeled target reward (my understanding is you just have a chance to get this after completing the quest). Is that all it increases? What about bonus rewards like decorations/artian weapon parts? I also saw there is just general “quest rewards” is that its own category or is it both? I’m very confused here.

  2. If I get a gold talisman ticket should I wait to use it until I’m higher rank? I know I should wait to use decoration tickets, but from what I can tell the talismans max out at rarity 8 so there is no point in saving a gold ticket.

  3. The skills from decorations/talismans is pretty confusing to me. Again this is my first MH game and I’m only rank 40 so far and honestly learning menus and different terms has been harder than monsters so far lol. So from what I can tell every skill has 2 different names, is there a reason for that? And I can toggle the name when viewing decorations I want to equip, but not when I already have them equipped. I also can’t view what the skill does when I have it equipped unless I find the decoration in my inventory.. Which naming scheme is used more commonly so I’m less confused int eh future? And is there any way to make this easier to navigate?

  4. For decorations I think I figured out all skills are not always equal, for example a level 3 burst decoration just gives level 1 burst. But sometimes they also have multiple skills? Honestly just any information on how the skill rarities is decided, why some have multiple skills and if that sacrifices something in return would be useful. And the same for talismans, idk what the difference between rarity 7 and 8 even means, and I see 0 patterns in the amount of slots a talisman gets and what level skills/how many it rolls.

Longsword questions from new player (Wilds)

For some background this is my first MH game and I’ve just reached HR40. I had some questions about longsword which is the main weapon I’m playing right now. I also have read the meta document for longsword and was just wondering how up to date it is? And I didn’t read the endgame build guide section because I’m trying to avoid most spoilers for later contents.

  1. Currently the way I play is just use ISS (or maybe firesight if it’s a new boss) to get red gauge as fast as I can, then I do the combo. Normally in red I almost never use quick sheathe and just foresight slash everything since it’s faster and deals damage compared to the normal foresight slash. And it lets me go back into the combo much faster. But should I be using ISS still instead? It does do a looot of damage.

  2. I just unlocked artian weapons so I have been killing a bunch of tempered 6* monsters for level 7 parts. Now most of the information I can find for these is either from long ago and/or conflicting. My understanding though is I want all attack infusions, and then 3x element. For the reinforcing I think it’s called, do I just want to get 5x raw attacks? Or element? I’ve heard affinity is basically useless. And I’ve also heard element in general is just bad (again not sure who to believe and what is up to date).

  3. For statuses is there any reason to pick something over paralysis? It just seems to be the best one, but I can make like 10 poison or sleep weapons but no paralysis yet…

Any other advice or tips would be great too !
