Where to get coin collection appraised?

Looking to get a coin collection appraised and sold. My dad passed recently and I got his American coin collection, the Canadian one went to my brother. Anyways looking to sell and I know absolutely nothing about them.

Anyone know where in Kingston or nearby (willing to drive to it just preferably not like 4 hours away lol) that I can get a coin collection appraised? And whether or not it being American money matters?

Thank you!

Would you take a permanent $20/hr job over a temporary $23/hr job?

I recently graduated from a 2-year Computer Systems Technician diploma. I currently work as a Security Systems Technician doing things like CCTV, access control, alarms, wiring, troubleshooting, and I do it as a contractor working with the government of Canada inside a prison.

I’m making $23/hr, but my contract ends December 29 and I’m covering someone who’s returning soon. I don’t expect to be extended, so there’s a good chance I’ll be unemployed in January.

I have an interview today for a permanent full-time Technical Support Representative position. It starts at $20/hr+ and involves troubleshooting customers internet/phone/cable issues through phone, email and tickets.

My current job is extremely slow, has little room for growth, and I rarely get to work independently. The new job would be busier and pay less, but I’d have stable full-time employment and potentially more opportunities to grow in IT.

I’m also currently working on my CompTIA A+.

If I get the offer, would you take the $20/hr permanent job or stay at $23/hr and hope something better comes along before December?

Also, would leaving my current contract early burn a bridge?

NOTE: money is in CAD as I am in Canada.

I passed!! Resources I used and advice

Just took my A+ core 1 test and was an absolute nervous wreck, but I passed! And with a decent score surprisingly.

Just wanted to share what I used for resources. I don’t have much funds right now so I was going for low cost.

I used:
Professor messer’s YouTube A+ core 1 playlist (just skimmed through what I already knew and wrote down what I didn’t into a notebook)

Jason Dion’s 6 practice tests for core 1. Tbh was only scoring between 67 and 75 percent for a while, was stressing me out lol but near the end was getting 80+

Andrew Ramdayal’s practice test videos where he does 100 questions of multiple choose and goes through them with you. I believe he’s super underrated for this as everyone either wants messer or Dion but he was awesome, explained why an answer wasn’t right and was entertaining (as entertaining as it can get anyways)

I also did a couple practise tests on exam compass

I will say for me maybe it was easier because I just graduated with an IT diploma in June, and I work right now as a field technician for security systems but there was quite a bit I didn’t really know as I never encountered it yet. But only studied for about 3 weeks.

So if you’re reading this and wondering if you should do it cause you have a diploma, I’d do it anyways, helps with the resume and ai checks.

And if you think you can’t do it, just remember to breathe and you got this. It’s possible, even if you don’t got lots of money to spend on all the test resources out there!

Feel free to ask any questions, on to core 2!

My mom might be involved in a romance scam…

So I need advice on something, my mom is dating again since my dad passed away in February. My mom met someone on tinder and he lives in America somewhere. Not sure when they met btw. Anyways they had recently planned to meetup by him coming to Canada where we are located and I believe that was in May. This did not happen.

I was told by my mom today that apparently he is a dropshipper and went to china and got over 800 packages that he is wanting to take home or whatever but the border people assume he is smuggling drugs. He assured my mom it’s not drugs and she believes her.

So now he is being held in china for 3 weeks so far while they go through all these packages to make sure there is no drugs.

Meanwhile he has sent her pictures, had phone calls with her and according to my mom she has also video chatted with him. She says she knows he’s real, but I’m skeptical cause this sounds like a textbook scam waiting to happen. Sounds like they’re praying on my mom.

I’ve seen so many scams try to take advantage of people who just had a spouse die, and I just don’t trust it. Am I crazy? Are there scams like this where they ask to pay for money cause they get arrested or like dropshipping scam or something? Or is he real and I’m just shitting on her potential new relationship?

And if you think it’s a scam (like I do) how does one approach their mother about this cause she is like fully believing every word this man says.

TLDR: I think my mom is being romance scammed by a dropshipper who is stuck in china and keeps cancelling on meeting her. How do I help my mom?

EDIT:

A little context, my mom is 63, this guy is younger (not sure how much I believe late 30s or early 40s).
I hate the fact my mom is already dating, she told me in April. Her and my dad’s relationship was more like patient and nurse. My dad was very disabled for the last 5 years of his life and his health took a deep dive and she was taking care of him (sort of). She’s the type of person who always wants someone to take care of her not the other way around. She also cheated on him twice but he forgave her cause he was a wonderful man.

Anyways the guy has not asked for any money, and the only picture I have of this random man I did a reverse search and nothing showed up. I know AI is pretty good at this stuff now though but if they had a video chat idk it seems harder to fake
